I love cats & dogs, for similar & different reasons. Cats are surely "easier" if you're out a lot as they don't have to be walked & seldom get "separation anxiety" to the levels some dogs can. I don't really mind folks that aren't "pet people" that much, at least not near as much as the dog lovers that hate cats, for no real reason. & some people should not ever be around animals, or children, as they're cruel a-holes! But, to answer the question, no, I don't agree, I think it depends on the "man", I think a man without empathy is not a man, cat or no.

I see positives & negatives, but mostly positive. The groups allow folk to focus more on what interests or concerns them most, which is a good thing. I do agree though that you interact somewhat less, & I worry about the "bubble effect" a little. I also concur that this is liable to correct itself somewhat. What's good is that Admin is good about accepting feedback & suggestions, (at least so far, until it goes to their head & they demand fealty & loyalty oaths &...well, that's another post) so I think we're going in the right direction! Good question!

My understanding was that some chimps/apes could do limited "word stringing", tho it wasn't universal. Not an expert so I won't adhere to that. Animals have different senses & intelligence from humans, no doubt. But if one has had pets, or even observed them in the wild, one has to come to the conclusion that many, many types of animals are sentient. Just as with humans, different doesn't by any means indicate inferiority, just difference.

I've done the Grand Canyon Railway, to & from Williams & the Canyon (we didn't pedal, obviously), & tho, because of lack of parts they are retiring a number of the vintage cars, when I did it they still had some really great older ones in a number of styles, even one with an observation dome.They had entertainers that were "period", storytellers, & even a train "robbery" initiated on horseback! Between all that & the scenery, it was a hell of a lot of fun!
