Not at all. It's about not focusing a search for signs of life on just one 'signature'. For example, if life on another planet takes the same 'steps' as life here seems to have followed, plant life before chlorophyll had a different atmospheric spectrum than it does after, so that it behooves to search in more than the one 'chlorophyll' spectrum for potential signs of organic life.
