In the 90's, I had a search done on black pepper which was known to fail the Ames Test for mutagenicity, what was thought to be a stand-in for carcinogenicity. It turned out the Ames repudiated the test he developed, saying that numerous molecules are mutagenic, but that DNA repair enzymes fixed the damage. It may be that cancer develops when these defenses are lost.
I'd be very surprised if perfumes cause breast cancer. Skin cancer is far more likely, especially on the upper chest which is exposed to sunlight and UV radiation.

@JeffMurray Yes, the 1600/day is an average, and the death rate may not have caught up to the infection rate, and thus yield an incorrectly low fatality rate. As hospitals are stressed, the recovery rate could drop and also boost the fatality rate.

I can only suggest that the experience in providing care has improved the survival rate. I noted the seeming decrease in mortality as well. Those are the numbers though.

While some anti-vaxxers are sincere, many more refuse as an expression of political solidarity and/or karenism/malignant narcissism/drama addicts. I'd say the decision-makers properly recognized that those that do not share a commitment to public wellbeing cannot provide reliable service.

@puff Consent would be normally be appropriate, but not in this case. Vaccines may not stop transmission, but they certainly reduce the severity, and just as certainly, the transmissibility. The development of breakthroughs surely relates to the increase in transmissibility of Omicron, the relaxing of social distancing, and the politicization of non-compliance.

I think everyone tries to control their emotions, but with varying degrees of success, and some issues hit so deep that they are unprepared for that challenge.
