Been watching some cosmology discussions of the big bang and how particle accelerators reproduce aspects similar to the first moments. One thing that was amazing was that temperature was proportional to one-over-time. Thus, as time goes to fractions of a millisecond, temperature also is asymptotic, basically starting with infinite temperature. What does that even mean?

In the laboratory of a refinery, the chemists used manometers to adjust gas pressure of sample containers. Once in a while, the mercury got out, and apparently, the technicians simply poured it into the drain pipes, where it hung in the trap. Over time, disposal of acids ate through the traps, allowing the mercury to drop into the soil of the sub-basement. Mercury vapors were found in the basement, prompting an investigation. They ended up excavating the soil of the sub-basement as hazardous waste. Not cheap.
