In contrast, the politicizing of resisting ALL public health measures, whether contact tracing, social distancing, wearing masks, and then getting vaccinated, had no purpose other than to galvanize a particular political loyalty, and certainly resulted in much higher fatalities, disease, and disability. Which is to say, unreasoned (politically motivated) opposition to public health policies has no standing and is despicable, whether it comes from trailer trash or degreed assholes.

I drove across the country a few times when I was going to college, and I would listen to the radio. Once in a while I'd tune in to the radio preachers out of curiosity, and because not much else was on the air. The anti-science hate spewed by Creationists angered me, not only because I felt I was a target of their hate, but because I knew they were lies - - flat out lies, and singularly evil lies. I admit that experience probably polarized me. I wrote letters to the local papers exposing Creationism from time to time. I never wanted nor expected to see a consequence of their hate. And yet, I do interpret their mass suicide as just that consequence. Their deaths directly derive from their belief in the bias, bigotry, racism, sexism, and hatred that became American Christianity. Seeing how the Holocaust derived from Christian anti-Semitism, I worry for the country's future. I see too clearly the parallels between todays GQP and the German Nazis. Should I mourn these modern Nazis? I don't expect many Germans mourned the millions of people they murdered. Still, I hope I have more empathy, or empathy that they apparently lack. I admire and salute the clinical attitude of the author above. I hope that their deaths serve to enlighten the survivors, at least a little bit.
