Israeli diplomats have been approved by Ukraine to open negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. If this has Ukraine's approval, what is the issue? Two issues: 1) Immigration of Jewish Ukrainians to Israel. Israel is fighting demographics with the Arabs, so Israel would like to bolster the number of Jews with the Ukrainian Jews dispossessed by the war. 2) What is the status of Russian oligarchs that have fled to Israel in the face of prospective sanctions against Russia's oligarchs? Perhaps the sanctioning of Russian oligarchs is being considered for additional sanctions. The Russian oligarchs supporting Putin could be deprived of passport admission throughout the world, and put on no-fly and no-entry lists. The Aljazeera article suggests the Russian Jewish oligarchs already in Israel want to be exempt from these restrictions. They are indeed kleptocrats and don't deserve the time of day, however, they are not the oligarchs currently supporting Putin. ( I'd say fuck them all, but I am more focused on the oligarchs that support Putin's dictatorship and invasion.) (I would say put a bounty on the oligarchs and denounce them as wanted war criminals for their support of this war. But then, I'd like to arrest Bush and Cheney for the Hague, too.) Thanks for posting. The big question is whether engaging in religious practices has the effect of causing damage to these or other parts of the brain. One might assume that religious practices were relatively benign. However, if doctrine screws people up sexually and/or socially, that can have the effect of generating sociopaths or people with abnormal sexual behaviors. When those people act out, they traumatize other religious members and that trauma may be damaging to the brain. Similarly, by inculcating hate of non-believers, the disposition to violence can also bring about traumatic events, damaging the personality and the brain. If the relationship between religion and damage can be demonstrated with brain activity MRIs and cognitive tests, that would be very persuasive information.

Even though he is a scientist, he leans in the direction of all the anti-vax propaganda. At a minimum, hate speech includes disparaging someone for some feature they were born with or otherwise have no control over. Disparaging someone for their belief system is a bit trickier because religions often consist of weird or obviously silly beliefs. Why is it OK to disparage Christians for their beliefs, but hate speech when Christians disparage atheists? In this case, the social environment figures into the definition. Atheists are a comparatively powerless minority while Christians are the power-holding majority.

However, I am surprised that Stone would take Putin's stance without any counter-characterization of Putin's dictatorship. Realistically, people are too obsessed with tradition to make the changes that are needed. The US Constitution contains numerous elegant solutions for the colonists' circumstances. The Constitution was written to be a game played by participants, only partially addressing their interests with groups intended to be honorable and deliberative!!! The founders developed the Electoral system to prevent the tyranny of the majority, but it has become a tyranny of the minority, and even a means to be exploited for election subversion. Worst of all, the Constitution made no provision to address the corruption in the ranks. Indeed, it endorsed that corruption by only giving the vote to landed males. We have made progress since that time, sort of. The closest thing to gaining insight into a solution would be to develop an AI research program. The program would develop game theory solutions to the division of power, and address the undermining of corruption. Perhaps the findings could suggest intermediate steps to take to transition to the new system. Here and now, we need to drastically reinvigorate our Justice system (and the IRS). We need to institute a universal personality assessment and structures that prevent the demented from gaining access to power or safety-related roles. A strongly progressive tax structure on both wealth as well as income is needed to dethrone our kleptocrats. Candidates for public office need to be evaluated on the basis of competence rather than propaganda. Metadata should be used to identify the corrupt, and corrupt organizations should be nationalized, with boardmembers imprisoned. Discharge the disqualified SCOTUS members and unfit Congresspersons.
