It's cold and a mask keeps you warm. It's a small hassle to be taking it off and putting it back on again if its a short trip. (I'm rationalizing; I take it off unless I'm feeling really lazy. In one of my jobs, we had to wear earplugs, hardhat, Nomex jumpsuit, and sometimes a respirator. You get used to it and aren't always in a big hurry to remove it all.)

The presence of cannabis is a red herring. The intended implication is that the mother and her friend weren't paying attention. One cannot give children 100% attention. It's a reasonable assumption they didn't know about the gun until it was too late. That should put responsibility back on the father for not securing the gun. While cannabis drivers are generally safe, authorities continue to presume that using cannabis is the same as intoxication. Having children in a car while smoking is a bad idea because law enforcement will be hostile to that scene.

Yes, I look forward to each new degradation my body provides. Nose and ear hairs as thick as a dime. Skin tags that look like teats. Emotional hiccups, whether love, depression or anxiety. Spasms, locked muscles, pains without cause, and so much more. What fun!!

The need to classify ourselves by our beliefs points to our need for identity. These labels don't enlighten, necessarily, because of the huge overlap. I am all at once, atheist, anti-theist, strong and weak agnostic, skeptic, humanist... Probably not pantheist, although I am open-minded and allow for the possibility of spiritual dimensions that are only hinted at, but lack evidence. I do not equate being open-minded with being spiritual, though. Anthropocentrism is more like the usual moral relativism where morality is rationalized. Humans have control of animals, but do not do so honorably. Meaning, our treatment of the biosphere is the practical expression of greed, and while it allows proliferation, is not ennobling in the details. In perusing, I ended up on a page for Mark Twain with some fun quotes: "Man is a marvelous curiosity. When he is at his very, very best he is a sort of low grade nickel-plated angel; at his worst he is unspeakable, unimaginable; and first and last and all the time he is a sarcasm." "He took a pride in man; man was his finest invention; man was his pet, after the housefly...."

I've only ever heard of jets coming from accretion disks falling into collapsed neutron stars, black holes and the like. I wonder how young stars would produce jets? From Google: "What causes protostar jets? The magnetic field is well coupled with neutral gas around the protostar and the episodic accretion causes the episodic jets. " "Bipolar flows are a phenomenon associated with young stars still embedded in their parent molecular clouds. There are two kinds of flows – jets and molecular outflows. The first represent high-speed stellar wind gas, ejected into two narrow streams. The second are broader cones of more slowly moving cloud gas." The origin of these jets is the presence of a binary companion, where mass-transfer and accretion onto one of the stars lead to the creation of an accretion disk, from which matter is ejected. The presence of a magnetic field causes the eventual ejection and collimation of the matter, forming a bipolar outflow or jet.

I suppose that it'd look like a wet suit if they didn't have the ruffles. The ruffles still look wacky anyway. It doesn't look like she could really walk in it. So it's confusing. She's hot, the 'dress' is not.
