We May Finally Know How The Mysterious Easter Islanders Survived by 'Drinking Seawater'
rogueflyer comments on Oct 13, 2018:
In Hawaii today the public water system consists of pumping water from a lens of fresh/brackish water that floats on top of the seawater under the islands. The lava rock is porous and groundwater flows down through the land to float on seawater that has migrated in from the shore. Since fresh water is lighter than salt water we have a lens of fresh/brackish water about eleven to twelve feet thick. ancient Hawaiians used land depressions that were slightly below sea level as a sort of well or "Queens Bath".

Kornacki makes some good points about tribalism, however, I remember the "tea party" and "youth with a mission" folks planning government takeover thirty years ago. The Evangelical based youth with a mission folks were encouraging kids to go into politics, study law in order to become attornies, judges, and eventually supreme court judges. Evangelicals hijacked the Republican party. This has been a well planned out long-term endeavor that trump has cashed into (pun intended).

Sometimes I clean out the algae and change out most of the water. I'm on well water. I worry that the water doesn't have any excess oxygen since it just came from 100 feet under ground. Where does the oxygen come from that my fish use? When I aerate how does that change the chemistry? If the fish use the oxygen in the H2O it would release the hydrogen. I know this must sound nutty but it's driving me crazy. Much appreciated.
