You ever get super anxious that you scare potential friends away?
sewchick57 comments on Mar 29, 2018:
No. That's the beauty of not caring in the first place. I don't care one way or another.
Do I see the glass half full or half empty?

Music that feeds your “soul” Do you have any bands that feed your being?

Depends on what it needs fed, could be anything from AC/DC to The Moody Blues. I like a pretty wide range of music. On Sunday mornings it tends to be old R&B.

A Message To Your 18-Year-Old Self

Well, there was the time the cops showed up at the apartment. I was sitting in the living room and I see all these cops doing this sort of sneak around and advance sort of thing. And as soon as I figured out they were coming to my apartment I opened the front door. They said they had a report of gunshots fired. Uhhh, well I have a gun but I don't have any bullets for it and it hasn't been fired in years. I showed them where it was and they determined it hadn't been fired and left. I found out later, much later, that my oldest son and his friend were blowing up tea bags in the sink with fire crackers.

Were You Raised In A Single Parent Home Or 2 Parent Home
sewchick57 comments on Mar 13, 2018:
I was raised by a single mother. I met my father when I was 17. I'm astonished they were married to each other. My father joined the navy when I was pretty small. I have a younger sister. I think he may have come home twice after he joined the navy. I have one very vague memory of him from when I was around 7. My mother remarried an abusive man when I was 12. I left home at 16 and got married. Then the adventures really started.
If you are listening to the voices in your head.. Who's talking?? ?

My quarterly conversation with my mother occurred yesterday and for a change I left it feeling good.
sewchick57 comments on Mar 11, 2018:
After my mother pissed me off and I quit talking to her I discovered the bonus of not having to listen to her bitch about everything and everybody under the damn sun. I am not even a little sad I quit talking to her. That's a whole 'nother issue though that had nothing to do with religion.
What type of outdoor markets, festivals, and state fairs do you like to attend, and why?
sewchick57 comments on Mar 11, 2018:
My girlfriend and I go to whatever they have downtown during the summer. They show movies at the park. They have food truck fridays and have games and stuff for kids. And of course there's a fair and rodeo every year. There's a week long beef festival. That has all kinds of events. The state fair is a 3.5 hour drive one way so I generally don't go.
How long has it been?
sewchick57 comments on Mar 11, 2018:
Last August. I had a gentleman friend that came here for work and we would go out. He changed jobs and doesn't have this area anymore. I also have a farmer friend that comes to see me once in a great while but I haven't seen him since July at least. And right now he's in Arizona.

What was your favorite story book as a kid?
sewchick57 comments on Mar 8, 2018:
I didn't get to have kids books. The Nancy Drew series was hugely popular when I was in grade school but I didn't get to read a single book. So as revenge, when my oldest granddaughter hit the right age I bought her every single Nancy Drew I could find.

Have you ever pissed off your neighbors from being too loud?
sewchick57 comments on Mar 8, 2018:
Oh, probably more than once. My kid threatened me one time, he said "if the cops come I'm telling them it's you." It was during the day though. I had a bad ass stereo back then. When my kids were fairly young I could keep them outside with the stereo but we didn't have close neighbors back then.

Why did you get married?
sewchick57 comments on Mar 4, 2018:
Well the first time was to escape an abusive home. The second time, I suppose because it seemed like the thing to do at the time. There really were a whole lot of reasons for the second time, none of them had anything to do with love though. At least on my part.

And there are a couple of other shows that are my go to shows when nothing else is on and I just feel like having the tv on. When my kids were little we lived in a place where you had three choices, on with sound, on without sound and off. We got 1 channel.

Would you rather be poor and work at a job you love or be rich and work at a job you hate? Why?
sewchick57 comments on Mar 2, 2018:
I'd be willing to give rich a whirl. I can't say that I love my job, it suits me well and I can pay my bills but that's about as far as it goes. It's really kind of a pia to be poor.
How strict were your parents?
sewchick57 comments on Mar 2, 2018:
My mother was really strict in ways that were just stupid, I didn't get kids books. We could only have "literature" at home. She was very strict about the toys we could have. Basically if it was the huge popular toy I didn't get it. She was very restrictive about what I could wear and how old I had to be before I could wear make up. And while you might think some of this would be a good thing, the lack of common toys and the odd dress made me a target. I never could get her to understand that you don't have to be one of the popular kids but at least fitting in makes school a ton easier.
Is there any relationship between salary and overall life satisfaction?
sewchick57 comments on Feb 28, 2018:
For the most part being a poor person is a pain in the ass. I should have about 6 months or so to decide if I'm going to fix my car or find a different one. It's 16 years old but I still like it. I think overall it's still in pretty good shape so I may just fix it. Decisions, decisions.

sewchick57 comments on Feb 26, 2018:
This is the traffic maneuver I saw today. I was in the outside lane, behind a pickup at the traffic light. There was a red car in the left turn lane and a white car in the inside lane. The left turn light turned green and the red car just sat there. So the driver in the white car flipped on their signal and took a left. A lot of people move here from countries where "traffic laws" are considered "suggestions."

What to do about sugar ants?
sewchick57 comments on Feb 25, 2018:
I've had pretty good luck with ant baits. A good hardware store will have a good selection of ant baits. You have to not kill the ants you see so they can carry it back to the nest. I always got a couple of different kinds of baits. That way if they didn't like one maybe they'll like the other one! I've also used Roach Proof and Diatomaceous Earth for ants. They both work but they take a lot longer.

sewchick57 comments on Feb 25, 2018:
I live in one of those middle of no where places. (Seriously, #1 on the list) Anyway, that's really not all that far to drive. I saw a guy that lived a little over 2 hours away for awhile. I'd drive up on Friday after work and leave early Sunday morning. He always paid for half the gas. I'd go see him every 2 or 3 weeks.

Why Do We Need to Sleep?
sewchick57 comments on Feb 22, 2018:
Well, I can tell you from personal experience if you don't sleep for a month and a half or so, you begin to hallucinate. And while that might sound not all that bad, it's really scary as hell. I don't know what they gave me at the hospital to put me to sleep but it set me on fire for 30 minutes and then I slept for a good long while. We settled on a nice combination of a tranquilizer and a sleeping pill along with several other drugs. Then I slept for at least 20 hours a day for 11 days straight. Your body needs sleep to heal.

Ever used Craigslist personals?
sewchick57 comments on Feb 16, 2018:
I have answered ads and placed ads. From what I know the experience is different for men and women. Men get a ton more scammers than women do. They all want the men to join websites or some such and ask for a credit card. When I put an ad up, it's kind of like being run over by a steamroller of email. I'll get close to 100 emails in the first couple days. I get scammers too but they use a different tactic with women. They're always either some kind of engineer or ex military, either divorced or widowed with a child between 8 & 14. They try to play on massive flattery and pull the heart strings with the "motherless child" bs. If you're going to place an ad on craigslist you had better be prepared for a lot of dick pics. I have actually met a few men thru the ads. A couple of them barely got past hello before I had a sudden engagement somewhere else.

I made a scammer really mad once. In his very first email he said stuff like "if we become exclusive couple" and how he would fly out at the end of summer and we would be married. I told him I wasn't marrying anybody for them to get a green card. Then he said he had a Phd and didn't need to marry an American for a green card, that his Phd could get him a green card. I don't remember what I told him next but then he claimed he was born in New York. I asked him "So if you're born in New York and have a Phd what do you need a green card for?" Never heard from him again. By that time he was really, really pissed off though. Wrote all sorts of thing about how horrible American women are, blah, blah, blah. <shrug> It was amusing for a couple of days. I even get scammers on Words with Friends!! They start a game and a chat right off the bat and play horrible. Anymore I use them to rack up points until they go away. LOL

What is your highest level of education?
sewchick57 comments on Feb 13, 2018:
I ended my formal education in 9th grade. Doesn't mean I stopped learning though. One snowy day about 8 or 9 years after I quit school, I got up and drove the hour to a local junior college, took the first 3 tests and had an extra long lunch, came back and took the other two tests to get my GED. I passed four of them above 95%. No study, no prep of any kind. Then later on that same year one of the teachers at the local school talked me into taking the ACT. No study, no prep. I scored 2 points above the national average.

What excercise routines are people doing right now?
sewchick57 comments on Feb 11, 2018:
When I do actual exercise I have a cool indoor walking track right outside my apartment door. I don't have shoes that make my feet happy right now but when I get shoes I'll go back to doing my walking track. My walking track includes two stair cases, 42 steps up, down to the other end of the building and it's 42 steps down. When I first start I can only do about a lap and a half. Then when it starts getting too hot on the 3rd floor I just do laps around the outside of the building. I wore out a pair of shoes doing that and lost a good 20 pounds but I haven't been able to find shoes that make my feet happy since. I think I found a good pair of shoes, I just have to work them into my budget. I actually got myself off insulin doing those damn stairs!! But here's the thing, since I am diabetic if I'm going to walk and do the stairs, the shoes can not make my feet unhappy.
