Born and raised in a somewhat Puritanical New England environment - about 6 hours drive north of where witches were burned for religious reasons, I had my "come to Jesus revelation/conversion" (pun intended) while attending churches, religious schools and college. While I may not fully understand the "how and why" we're here - I believe we have a brain that is meant to be used rather than accept anyone's man-made dogma to explain what, at this point, we cannot understand and if we fully understood - our heads would probably explode.
While biologically, it seems we're all somewhat attracted to physical beauty - higher intelligence and belief in something other than your personal "sky-monster" is a pretty big turn-on too! The conversation could be fun.
