There is ample proof for the evolutionary principles. Evolution is not one idea, its a compendium of principles that come into play within organisms on a continuous basis. They follow natural physical laws, are observable in many instances and quantifiable.

There was a mention of that hypothesis this morning on the news broadcasts. The hypothesis stated that if the election is close and he loses, that he may fail to officially recognize the outcome and refuse to leave office. That would be a true Constitutional crisis. We suddenky would resemble Venezuela with Maduro and Guaido. Would the spineless, immoral, and ethics challenged Republicans finally find a spine and support the Constitution. Ancient Carvings Show Evidence of a Comet Swarm Hitting Earth Around 13,000 Years Ago
t1nick comments on May 5, 2019:
The article suggests that Agriculture began around 10,000 BP. From my previous studies as an archaeologist, in the New World we understand a slightly different chronology. But caveat, I've been out of the field for quite awhile and not familiar with most recent research. Sometime before 10,000 BP peopes entered the Americas for the first time (multiple points of entrance, not just Bering Straight). They were large game hunters (Mammoth, Mastadon, Athabascan bison) as identified by the tool assemblage they left behind. This period lasted between 12000 BP and 9000 BP. By 9000 BP the large Pleotocene mammals had disappeard (became extinct) from the Americas. Between 9000 BP and 7000 BP the environment became warmer and drier as is known in the American SW as the Holocene. Subsistance strategies changed from large game exploitation to new strategy that emphasized a greater reliance on hunting smaller game and a greater reliance on exploiting local plant resourses. This is reflected in the tool assemblage by smaller, less elaborate projectile points, and the first appearance and reliance on grinding stones to process plant resources The Holocene ended (by some scientists) by 7000 BP. The temperatures became cooler worldwide. It is around this transition time that agriculture arose. It began as "insipient agriculture" whereby hunter and gatherer groups collected seeds from the plants they ate. They would "plant" the seeds along the migration routes they followed. As they followed game and the seasonal changes, they would return to the areas where they planted seeds (mostly likely began during the middle of the Holocene). The success of these planted plots encouraged increasing the practice. In the process they selectively changed the plant itself by selective selection of better seeds, leading to the domestication of crops. As the cooler temperatures made hunting and gathering more difficult, subsistance made another shift to a greater reliance on crop rearing and year round habitation in one area. Birth of agriculture. As a subscript, some scientist call the entire period beginning at the end of the last ice age (Pleistocene) to the present as the Holocene. However, a new movement among geologists is to label the end of the Holocene to the present as the "Anthropocene". Meaning the period of time geologic time that humans permanently changed the face of the Earth in a identifiable way (cities, agricultural, mining, etc).

There is a difference between criticizing a policy or an action perpetuated by a group, whether they be Christian, Muslim, or Jewish. I find Muslim treatment and views on women abhorrent. I find Christian proselytizing irritating. I find Jewish ubersenitivity to Isreali policies annoying. But in all, it is individual things that each group engages. At no time do I try to assume that everybody in each group are guilty of the egregious actions of the few in each group (except with Republicans, I'm guilty of lumping them together as a monolithic group -- my bad, I must do better. Lol). That's the criticism that most of us that have with the Islamophobes and the true anti-semites on this site. I usually ignore the anti-Chritian commetors as I've been out of that group for 45 years and do not wish to enter that arena in any capacity (again one of my consistencies, my bad). We are not opposed to criticizing these groups, just when the overt racism is too obvious.
Liberals having less children
t1nick comments on May 1, 2019:
Most Republicans are white. Most whites have chosen to have fewer children on average since the late 1970's. The Republican Party is under attack by Trump and his supporters. In point of fact, the Republican Party probably will not survive Trump. That is not to say that the new incarnation of Trump supporters won't survive, unless we are able to take Trump down in 2020. Regardless. the child gap between liberals and conservatives I do not think will pose a significant problem, especially if Trump.is expelled. There will aleays be conservative, backward thinking individuals in society, but overall social trends I think will limit their impact as they do not normally participate in civil activities, like voting. Incoming immigrants on the otherhand are anxious to become part of the American experiment.

t1nick comments on Apr 28, 2019:
The problem is knowing the tipping point or the point of diminishing returns. The Earth has never faced a challenge like we are experiencing today. This doesn't mean that the Earth hasn't faced its share of challenges: Snowball Earth, multiple extinctions etc. and each time it rebounded. Different than before. but recovered nonetheless. The difference being humans weren't around in these prior incidences. In all previous situations "Nature" was able to correct itself and move forward in ways that conformed to natural laws and evolutionary principles. The Earth will no doubt eventually correct itself according to these same principles. The only question that remains is, "At what point do we reach the point of diminishing returns where the Earth is incapable of stopping the present climate change trend, forcing the Earth to move to unto its next iteration?"
For fun. :)

Why Is It Difficult to Get Christians to Care About the Earth? | Sojourners
t1nick comments on Apr 23, 2019:
At the end of the Romanesque Period in Europe, Christianity embarked on a new movement (800-1200 CE). This new movement ushered in the era of the large cathedrals (eg. Notre Dame and Chartres). It was a major paradigm shift. Open and airly architecture became the norm with the vaulted ceilings, great ornamentation with scupltures and stained glass. No to the real point. With this shift came anorher paradigm shift. The church not only suddenly saw itself, and declared itself separate from nature and the beasts of the Earth. Where previously Christians had viewed themselves as a part of nature, now with this new vaulted perspective, they viewed themselves separate from Nature. Nature was below them as they were made in God's image afterall. Christians declared that all of God's creatures and all his vegetal bounty was put there for his use. God put everything on Earth for mans exploitation. There was no need to conserve, no need to protect as God would forever protect his chosen species. That is why Christians do not respect Nature, do not believe in husbanding Nature. The see it as inferior to humankind and therefore it is not a sin to exact the atrocities upon Nature that they do. This is the stated paradigm of most Evangelicals today. Pense has stated such on more than one occasion.

t1nick comments on Apr 22, 2019:
Never thought about that. In plants if you crowd the roots, you get greater plummage (bigger leaves and more flowers). That is, if you don't overdo the point of diminishing returns. And if you provide lots of space and nourishment below the surface, the roots will explode in growth at the expense of the above ground plummage.
