Mueller falsifies null hypothesis to create case on president’s obstruction of justice - Vox
t1nick comments on Apr 22, 2019:
I have been saying this, but in less articulate words. Its a difficult concept to comprehend. As a scientist and a PhD who has had to do research, I know exactly what the author is describing. Many on the other side keep crying "no collusion", and "no obstruction of justice". But Mueller didn't say that. He said that he didn't believe that he didnt have enough evidence to obtain a felony conviction. That doesn't mean both of the charges were not being engaged in, just that he couldn't present a slam dunk case. To save the country a protracted legal case with an uncertain outcome, he threw it to the Congress to seek a politocal answer. He laid out the exact path they would need to follow to obtain an obstruction of justice charge that would hold up. I closing, the President is guilty as sin and his supporters better be ready for the biggest pity party of all time.
Is anyone able to analyze this for credibility? Why the North Pole is moving - [gizmodo.com]
t1nick comments on Apr 21, 2019:
The magnetic North Pole location is dependent upon the movement of the liquid nickel-iron Outer Core. Magnetic fields originate and emanate from the liquid Outer Core. The magnetic field leaves the Earth at what we designate as the North Pole. The magnetic field lines surrounds the Earth in a protective shell and re-enter the Earth at the magnetic South Pole. Just like a bar magnet, a postive end and a negative end, or North-South. Now the liquid Outer Cores swirls in currents and sloshes as the Earth wobbles (precession) on its orbit. The sloshing and the wobble causes the the magnetic pole to migrate. We have ample proof of this locked away in the lava beds that run parallel to the mid-ocen trenches (well mapped). Lastly, the magnetic pole is different than the geographic pole. The Earth has a constant tilt, half the year towards the sun, half the year away from the sun. The tilt is about 23 degrees if I remember correctly. It doesn't change with the same frequency as the magnetic poles.

Murrey claims to be a Christian Atheist, a stance I find difficult to understand. To be both is to serve two masters, So two speak. You end up not donig justice to either. Rectifying differences means one side gets compromised at the behest of the other. " Murray does not necessarily view all Muslims as being violent Islamists, and has defended the activism of those advocating for reform within Islam. However, in the same essay, he writes that "Islam is not a peaceful religion. No religion is, but Islam is especially not." Murrey is not as obseessed with making all Muslims monolithic. He at least recognizes that their are Muslims activists, therefore moderate Muslims, or they wouldn't have an audience. Your obsession says more about you than Muslims. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_Murray_(author)

Your arguments are pretty good. I don't personally like qualifying evolution as potentially wrong. Given that the ability to know all the intimate factors in a habitat or species, evolution isn't wrong. Instead our reading of the significance of which factors had greater influence over others may be errant. The principles aren't incorrect, just our take on which to prioritize over one another.

Someone defend how the LSAT a logic test is racist [insidehighered.com]
t1nick comments on Apr 15, 2019:
Logic and language, like mathematics are human artifaces invented to make sense of their world. As such their are physical laws and properties that operate regardless what we call them or the language we use to describe them. Different groups make sense of their world in different manners. We describe them using an Eurocentric vocabulary and model. Not everyone does. Their model is just as valid in their world as ours is in our culture.
Someone defend how the LSAT a logic test is racist [insidehighered.com]
t1nick comments on Apr 15, 2019:
The implication in the preface question is that there is only one type of logic. Logic is logic. right. Wrong. As a white culture from Europe, we have a very Eurocentric view of logic. Logic is largely based in culture. Eurocenttic logic in the jungles tribes of the Amazon would probably get you killed. As a scientist and a science teacher. I operate within the confines of the Eurocentric model. But I also teach in the Native American community. They have a cultural logic that at times comes into play when Cultural questions arise. It would be nonsensical to use Eurocentric logic during these times. Yes one could seek a Eurocentric explanation, but there is no guarantee that you could adequately find an explanation. To address the original question. Standardized tests were originally written by white, Eurocentric persons educated in a Eurocentric model. Therefore, of course the test would end up becoming Eurocentric. In my Masters and Doctoral research I looked at the differences in teaching science to heavily cultural communities using a Eurocentric model versus a cultural sensitive model. The research shows that the outcomes differ significantly. That is not to day that the Eurocentric model should be abandoned. On the contrary. My job is to teach main stream Eurocentric science so my kids are ready should they go onto college. Doesn't mean I cannot be sensitive to alternative approaches and logical constructs. It is important that Law students learn Eurocentric logic as the bulk of of our laws are written with that logic in mind. But walking into a ghetto community, or a hispanic barrio as relying on white Eurocentric logic might just get you capped. Understandably. So students coming from these communities need to have an opportunity that allows their understandings to count for something towards Law school acceptance. So no, logic is not just logic.

t1nick comments on Apr 12, 2019:
Novelty, the problem is that the ardent supporters of Trump are the committed (and definitely should be) Evangelicals. The are same ones as who existed under Ronald Reagan, but were called the Moral Majority. Problem was they were neither moral or a majority. They just made more noise and gaslighted the country through their noise and their banter. Trump supporters are the same. They know how to manipulate the media to direct and misdirect their message. They are very accomplished at this. By controlling what the media and the country is talking about, they actual achieve their ends in plain sight as everybody is looking the other way.

"Why do liberals think Trump supporters are stupid?"
t1nick comments on Apr 12, 2019:
Could it be that the genetally are. On a serious note, most Trump supporters I've met have a poor capacity for verifying the substance, or credentials of the sources they purport to use. They fail to be able to grasp the implications of the absurdities they espouse. They grab on to the most absurd conspiracies that have little capability of being true. They think that brutality and offish behavior implies strenght of character. They are willing to sacrifice their morals, values, and ethics for a few hyperthreats that have little chance of becoming true. Othrr than that I guess they are okay.
