When you are below the poverty line and poor, and it seems like there is no way out one takes some desperate chances.. Financially it doesn't make sense to you and me who are not struggling at the level. But those families who know they do not have any ither way to rise above, it seems a risk worth taking. They don't really believe they'll win, but when you have nothing else to look forward too, the off chance that you might get lucky is appealing and comforting. So instead of finding fault with peolle who are struggling, why don't you do something to help those in need. I would be willing to bet that you don't give to anybody but yourself. Never have and never will. Instead you look for opportunity to find people less fortunate than yoursrlf and dump on them. First rate individual aren't you. Our previous encounters have drmonstrated this.

t1nick comments on Apr 7, 2019:
Define what constitutes "moral", and "moral progress" in your opinion. Its a vague catch-all term that may mean many things to many people. Until we have a common understanding of what we are discussing, an intelligent discussion may not be possible.

Outwardly they disavow any connection to their religion, but outwardly espouse the same viralent, hate filled policies as the church they disdain. All things revolve around their wants, no matter how shallow or hurtful, and nobody can tell them otherwise. Afterall, a teenager knows everything and knows better than anybody else

How Can We Trust Survey Results?
t1nick comments on Apr 6, 2019:
People who mistrust or discount surveys off hand generally do not understand how surveys work. Surveys, like anything else are on as good as the questions being asked and thesampling methodology employed. If the person generating the survey is biased and is making no attempt to look for neutral language to solicit responses, then of course its going to be biased. The second thing to look for is what is known as a scientific survey. This does not mean they are asking scientific questions, rather they are sampling a random sample of the population. The randomness is what legitimizes the survey, along with the sample size. A good scientically-based survey controls for the language used in the questions so as not to lead the participant taking the survey in one ditection or another. A good example; if you were to go to a Trump rally and ask participants about their perception of the Democrats, you would expect to get a unanimous negative answer. First off, the sampling population is already biased against, Democrats. It is not a random.sample. The outcome is already predictable as the Republicans feelings toward Democrats is already known. If you however you do a random phone survey where numbers are generated by an algorithm, your chances are greatly improved that the trend of your survey is actually what it suggests (as long as your sample is statiscally significant). Not all surveys are created equal. Sources like Quinnipiac take greats pains to be language neutral and scientific in their approach. CNN also, despite the oppositions misplaced charges also attempts to make their polls scientific. Unfortunately the same cannot be said of their competition. FOX news is well known for only polling the population they know will give them the opinion outcome they want, or in asking leading questions introducing bias at the outset.
RICHARD DAWKINS ERROR CONCERNING THE ORIGIN OF LIFE Pursuing the concept that anything is ...
t1nick comments on Apr 6, 2019:
It is true that what is evolving on another planet in another galaxy may have no bearing on what is evolving on this planet. I'll give you that. However, having not read Dawkins explanation I will address the issue given my understanding. First, who's to say it was entirety random. The Universe has physical laws that apply equally to biology and evolutionary science as well as physics and chemistry. The present hypothesis as I understand it has life beginning at the bottom of the ocean around "black smokers" where nutrient rich mineral is welled up from the mantle. Within that mineral material upwelling were many of the componrnts that would combine to make the first simple RNA structures needed for the reproduction and perpetuation. The surrounding environment was warm and nutrient rich. Having stated thus, my point was that it wasnt entirely random. The combination of extant conditions were not necessarily unusual or farfetched. Any planet experiencing tectonic crustal formation with a molten interior would potentially carry the necessary elements and they would arise at the tectonic edges as did ours hypothetically.
Evolutionary changes played a crucial role in industrialization, study finds
t1nick comments on Apr 6, 2019:
This sounds like a discussion that we had following the 50's and 60's. Greater economic opportunity for segments of society (predominantly white America), brought about a trend of young couples and young prefessionals to delay having children until later in their lives. Newly found income had couples opting to become more selfish, pursuing personal interests before having children. I'm not sure if there is an evolutionary connection, but the circumstances sound similar in some ways.

t1nick comments on Apr 2, 2019:
The problem with your menu of questions is that not everybody has a common language or understanding of what may or not be considered feminism. Perhaps that is what you were looking for. That is to say, the range of definitions or the degree of commonality. Your approach might work. Posing it like did is a lot like how the Republicans posed the concept of familiy values in the run up to his second tetm. Reagan and his Republicans defined family values as meaning one man and one women in matrimony having children. Democrats were trying to champion same sex marriage ( first election where this was an actual topic of discussion). Democrats said two people of the same sex could constitute a family. The Republicans countered by saying that if you were not in agreement with them you were opposed to family values. It worked for them quite well to squelch the same sex marriage issue for 2 decades. It was lose-lose for Democrats. If they said they were for family values (which they had to do in the presidential debates) they deneid the same sex marriage constituency. If they claimed that they disagreed with their Republican opponents, they were labeled as opposed to having familt values. Feminism is like that. Whose definition of feminism do you use? What does it look like? Until a common vocabulary is established an intelligent conversation is difficult.
Does anyone know what type of stone this is?

t1nick comments on Apr 1, 2019:
The Anthropocene represents that period of time in which the human beings changed the features of their environment permantly. Such activities as city building, agriculture, mining, hunting to extinction (a source of great geological and anthropological debate) whereby the surface of the Earth became petmantly changed by the results of human activity. This Epoch naming is roughly equivalent to the end of the ice age (Pleistocene -12,000 yrs ago) and the end of the Holocene (9,000 - 7,000 yrs ago). The culmination of a cold dry period, to a warmet, drier period. Offered to replace the name Holocene. Archaeologically, when I was working in the field in the SW United States, the period berween 12,000 yrs to 9,000 yrs was represented by a culture assemblaged known a paleo hunters. The period between 9,000 yrs and 7,000 yrs was represented by a culture known as the Archaic. Big game hunters gave way to hunters and gathers.

Big Foot can be disproved with population biology. Based on the number of supposed sightings, there is not a large enough of a breeding population to keep the species alive and viable. No residual bone evidence found anywhere (surley some individuals must have died and left their bones lying about and humans have thouroughly combed the forests and mountains in the area they supposed occupy), modern or ancient. Loch Ness has been solved. The Loch has a direct connection with the ocean at the north end of Scotland. A resesrch group a few years back traced the connection all the way to the ocean. They scoured the ocean between Scotland and Iceland and eventually found a species of fish that resembles the pictures, movements, and approximate dimensions consistent with the famous photo. Subsequently, the fish is capable of short term transition and can live in fresh water for a short while, then returns to the ocean.
