I saw that beautiful city (much like Portland area) before and after the big one in Feb'12, and 7 yrs later there are still large swaths of former business district waiting to be brought back from dust, multi-levels under rebuild, shored up by stacked shipping containers, and new shops built of shipping containers while the work continues. My first conversation with her now-mother in law was a tearful phone call when I learned of it, but they were safe in that home. Her own flat was overcome by the muck and damaged utilities, and she lost a beloved friend with his students in the collapsed CTV building. Many UTubes are available, showing the incredible devastation on so many levels, and we have their assessment and rebuilding efforts to thank for new knowledge of earthquake retrofitting requirements.

Bacon with garam masala? Interesting pairing. Not sure I'd like that, though there are those who'd say you can't go wrong with bacon anywhere! ;)

@UUNJ conservative thought is a common reality out there, and I think perhaps artistic communities such as Wallowa Valley (Joseph) or Sisters could be exceptions.

great interesting photo but just stratocumulus clouds. the camera focused on the sun makes the clouds look darker.

The lower clouds were actually that dark, as a cloudy front was moving into the area.
