Need help reconciling my sons suicide and my ex wife's beliefs.
tinkercreek comments on Apr 28, 2020:
I am so sorry for your unimaginable loss. Your wish to reconcile your sons suicide and your ex wife's beliefs - is that really necessary? Perhaps it would be a more gentle pathway for you to just process the loss as you need to, and allow her to do the same. Is there a Dougy Center near you? They are a wonderful resource for grieving families, without religious bias or judgement. Even getting in touch with them over a distance may bring you some manner of finding your way through this with a few more tools to help the process. Wishing you and yours the best, take good care.

tinkercreek comments on Apr 26, 2020:
Dede, I was also slender and tall, 5'10.5", and my mother at almost 5'9" had married my dad of MAYBE 5'7". She would coach me to "just bend your knees as you walk" to appear shorter, and thus I lived with constant shame of my height. She was also quite heavy, and I viewed myself through the lens of her obesity, thinking I was the same. With no encouragement to exercise or maintain health I gained weight through high school and college, making it so. I somehow began to educate myself in nutrition and fitness, changed habits and lost the weight. I was able to pass along to my daughter and son appreciation of being tall and healthy, now valued in their young familes. Natural changes of this life stage are challenging with the slowed metabolism, but I also remain haunted by those early messages. It seems to create an anxiety and helplessness over body image that will likely never leave entirely. Staying true to my ongoing health and managing new changes as best I can is a constant victory, and sounds like you do the same - we can do this!

tinkercreek comments on Apr 25, 2020:
If you got on well together conversationally, feel safe and such, there's certainly nothing to lose in taking a nice walk outdoors. Perhaps a renewed contact (plus isolation!) would have you both a bit more chatty and seeing some possibilities. I also have strong feelings about kissing, and the skill needs to be reciprocal. I doubt it would be well received to tell him you were not pleased with his kissing, but perhaps something like "you know what I really enjoy?" Skills can be taught!

tinkercreek comments on Apr 2, 2020:
The world is presenting all of us with some incredibly stressful situations right now, and most of us manage to continue living our best lives right on through it. Then, WHAM, along comes that pesky little straw, a minor issue, a moment, that pushes someone or someones to find themselves unable to deal with anything at all. Not being able to see the big picture with clarity is a common result. Finding some space and time to decompress and gain perspective sounds like a positive move. Your life is at a very tender place right now with the relationship, baby and another on the way, and many of us have experienced the same. Please do what you can to get time for yourself, also. Try to embody all that kindness and love you have, and focus on all you have to look forward to. Be well, and know how many people care about you, and Frankie, and the babies.
