A very painful on-line, structured discussion. Can you follow the logic ? [kialo.com]
tinkercreek comments on Jan 9, 2020:
I was an EKG tech through my 20's, sometimes called to do a tracing on infant boys in the 'circ room'. Have you seen the baby sized cookie-cutter restraint trays they are strapped into? I began to dread those calls, thinking it only reasonable that the pain, fear and stress of the procedure was the only cause of their little hearts flipping out. When I had my own son I had researched the options and learned that we are a unique culture that performs this routinely - for profit. Additionally, studies pointed to uncircumcised men experiencing superior sexual health and pleasure, as well as their partners (which I can vouch for!). Cleanliness would only be an issue in someone with overall poor habits. Without hesitation, my son was left intact. As it turned out, my son also developed phimosis at age 12, discovered from a constricted urinary tract that required noticeably frequent bathroom breaks at school. I was disappointed that he required a circumcision, but it was a relatively easy day surgery and recovery. My daughter lives in New Zealand, where midwives routinely deliver babies and circumcision is typically never a consideration. I could not be more happy for my kiwi family and their healthy ways, never even a thought to cut my dear grandson!

My work for years has required constant documentation, and I always enjoyed excelling at language skills. I think current young adults have a "not worth the bother" attitude over writing, exaggerated by keyboarding, acronyms and emoticons. It just seems sad that we've pretty much lost the practice of cursive, and now the very structure of our language. Speaking of, is this happening with languages other than English?

What is the difference between hope and desperation?
tinkercreek comments on Jan 8, 2020:
Hope is looking forward to a desired outcome despite a lack of information, whereas desperation is a loss of rational thought in the effort to achieve a goal.
I believe these are correct but I could be wrong.

tinkercreek comments on Jan 8, 2020:
This is personal for me, as I have a dear friend and colleague, Oregon National Guard, stationed in Qatar. The assignment never made sense, deployed in September to guard/assist in rebuilding an older airbase there. There was no hazard pay attached to the assignment. She's a career soldier, transitioned to this from 8 yrs/3 deployments as a Marine. Joining Guard was intended to avoid conflict deployments, and I think of her constantly, like a daughter to me.

Working in the medical field, by it's nature, does elicit some reactions. I support an office of behavioral healthcare and have learned that many folks become reactive about psychiatry, so now just cite "medical office". It is typically easy enough to avoid details or speak in general terms until I get to know people better, and I have been respected for declining further discussion. It is also OK to be a tiny bit misleading! Regardless of your credentials, I would guess you have the skills to avoid that detail and/or just say 'gynecology'. Through discussion on a hike you will likely get a notion of his personal values, and if you want to continue to seeing him you can decide more later. I would agree with you on not bringing the abortion detail forward to be shared with the group!

It's hard to know just what his intent or interest was with this conversation, but I think it speaks to the folly of too much detailed conversation before meeting in person. That is a fine line, knowing when it's worth the time and effort to meet, but it could help in clarifying some lines of communication.
Well here I go again.
tinkercreek comments on Jan 1, 2020:
Having gone a few rounds with online dating, the result was 1 marriage and 1 LTR over a span of 15 yrs. Yes, it was love and a belief that each of those would be a successful life, but learned differently over time. I jumped back in the online pool a few times after that and routinely found similar lack of 'true representation, deliberate or not, and think it's just the nature of most self-written profiles. I also realized that I was approaching dating from a place of need and insecurity, rather than from a real and active life as my true self. Just my experience here, but doubtful I will dabble in that anymore. It is more important to me that I take the time (yes, as quickly as it passes now) to develop my most happy, healthy and productive self. Group activities, local MeetUps, sports, volunteering and classes are good ways to meet folks with similar interests. This site is a great way to develop thoughts and interests with other like-minded folks, a good experience of encouragement. From that framework I feel more likely to encounter and attract a partner that I can truly appreciate and style a positive relationship with. Online dating works well for some and you may be one of them, but there are options - best of luck!
I'm gonna tell y'all a few things about myself as I sit here, alone again, on NYE.
