tinkercreek comments on Nov 20, 2019:
Peer pressure and want of social belonging are such strong influencers, and many kids are drawn in and brain-washed before they know what's happening. Oh, silly me, that's just "making disciples"!
What is being lonely?
tinkercreek comments on Nov 19, 2019:
Years of interviewing dozens of job applicants helped me with the unexpected skill of making small talk. The best way to know an applicant is to get them talking and I think that works in social situations too, for most folks enjoy the opportunity to talk about their own stuff. Downside of that can be getting trapped in that conversation, but there are 'creative' ways of ducking out of that!
I had something different for breakfast today.

As the others cite, there are assumptions and stereotypes based on age and little else. From your profile here, you have a refined/European handsome appearance, which could generate wishful thinking from women not pausing to read your profile. It's just a jungle out there, but you'll be fine as long as you describe your interests and values from the start. Good luck!

just a curiosity - [kymkemp.com]
tinkercreek comments on Nov 18, 2019:
More than a curiosity for resident of west coast timber country, this is exciting! How wonderful there are folks using amazing new science to recreate what could be another behemoth redwood, so many years down the road. Much of what we had here in Pacific NorthWest is gone, despite recent good efforts in replanting and forest management, and yet more land development by the year.
Europeans and Americans have a very different point of view on neutering.
tinkercreek comments on Nov 17, 2019:
Until some one or responsible organization gets a grip on puppy farms and over-breeding, there is always an excess of beautiful, loveable dogs awaiting adoption. I have friends with show dogs and understand that - to a point - but think it encourages a lot of folks to believe there is great benefit in purebred dogs, with which I disagree.

I'm seriously considering fostering a senior dog.
tinkercreek comments on Nov 16, 2019:
Having two dogs live to 16 & 17 yrs, I know how much life and activity a 'senior' dog still has in them, not to mention the love and calm companionship. My current girl is about 11, which no one can believe for her ongoing fitness and energy. As with the others, I will be here to always give her the best life possible. It breaks my heart that some folks abandon older dogs that still need a loving home. If you have the love, time and resources, I would equate it with seeing through on a dog you may have had for years, and a benefit to you both - especially that dear furry soul just waiting to love you!
Yup real genius

Was watching a video on Facebook , of young Asian women applying makeup .
tinkercreek comments on Nov 14, 2019:
It has always been my preverence to wear little makeup, aside from a bit of fashion experimentation in my 20's. The man I was married to would proclaim that he liked my natural look and didn't care for me with makeup. I found it hysterical that when I would appear with more makeup than he would ALWAYS tell me how nice I looked, unaware of the source. Being comfortable with myself, avoiding fussing and primping, and knowing I'm being seen for who I am are life values I would not live without now.

How is on-line dating affecting relationships? Three interesting new videos [cbsnews.com]
tinkercreek comments on Nov 12, 2019:
It is becoming overwhelmingly sad to me that the intersection of dating sites, video games and apps for everything has depersonalized the most personal of human interactions. Validity simply cannot be expected and verification does not exist without spending long periods of time with anyone met online, with their family, friends and work associates. I think most of us are capable of constructing an amenable persona one-on-one with a potential partner, even without intent to do harm or deceive. My greatest mistakes have been in allowing a new relationship to grow in a social vacuum, and I've spent considerable time looking back on how that transpired. That all being said, there could still be some statistical probability of two people meeting via online dating and finding a wonderful partnership, but the longer I'm apart from it the more willing I am to wait patiently for finding someone via mutual interests.
Precious (2009) Official Trailer (powerful, underrated) [youtube.com]
tinkercreek comments on Nov 11, 2019:
Wow, 'powerful' would be the understatement. This was one of the most visceral, engaging and meaningful films I've seen in ages, and I would recommend it to all. Yes, the story is illustrative of a world far apart from my experience, a world experienced by millions whose lives intersect with and impact lives on many more levels. As painful as it is to see the young woman's life documented in glaring detail, I think we all have a moral and social responsibility to understand this reality and the circumstances surrounding.

tinkercreek comments on Nov 3, 2019:
YES! And that, compounded for my daughter by 4yrs of univ. in Orange, CA, with the "upspeak" patterns that drove me mad! The following evolution was her study abroad and relocation to New Zealand, where it now takes my brain 4-5 days to start translating the kiwi accent along with their rapid speech patterns.
