And since his followers like war so much, put the planets really close to each other they can have war! That's about all I've got. But it was a fun exercise. IDK...would this be "satire" rather than "philosophy"?

Agnostic/Ex-Religious: Was “hip” church even more boring?

I had the pleasure of seeing Seth Andrews talk about how Xian church steals from secular culture to keep itself "alive". You might enjoy seeing his talk -- it was similar to this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNik8niSrrY

Your friend sounds like a wonderful person, and I'm very sorry for your loss. I too wonder what would be a god's reason for inventing diseases. If he has the power to smite, why not just *poof* people out of our lives when "their time has come"? Imagine a god, creating all the beautiful things ...

Come to an acceptance and understanding that you cannot change her and LET IT GO. To do otherwise leaves you right where you are and prevents you from living your own truth. My folks are devout Mormons, I am a single tattooed 41 year old woman,a 4 plus year sober recovering addict and Buddhist ...

The Bible Belt: Besides almost everywhere in America, where is it?
silvereyes comments on Dec 15, 2017:
Well normally I don't reference wiki, but I agree with it on this point: "The Bible Belt is an informal region in the southeastern and south-central United States in which socially conservative evangelical Protestantism plays a strong role in society and politics, and Christian church attendance ...

I love Wikipedia. Looks like it makes it way into Indiana ever so slightly. The key definition might be the lack of religious diversity then?

TY. Sounds about right . And They don't like Catholics either.....one of them ongoing religious wars, I'd guess. I remember going to Mardi Gras and before the parades, there'd be a couple of marchers slandering the "Catholic's and Their Party"....or, sumpin' like dat. Then it was all fun again

I had one recently and I just couldn’t bring myself to go to her church. I asked her if they were young-earth creationists and she said “we believe everything in the bible, and I told my pastor about you”. I asked her if she got bonus points or something. I’ve tried to get a couple of others...

I just looked that up online at a Bible site ......"Therefore, it is imperative that Matthew 24–25 be seen as dealing with a future time. The generation that Jesus speaks of “not passing” until He returns is a future generation, namely, the people living when the predicted events occur. The word generation refers to the people alive in the future when the events of Matthew 24–25 take place.Jesus was talking about a different generation, a future generation".... Uh Huh
Do you think dreams have any real meaning?
resserts comments on Dec 4, 2017:
If there's any meaning, I think it's probably only that we dream about some things that are already meaningful to us — but trying to distinguish between the important things and the bizarre nonsense that runs through our minds seems futile, and we may be looking for symbolism or patterns that just...

In Scouts they have a badge for “God and me” so indoctrination is key to the scouting life. My boy has been a Cub Scout for the last four years and he loves camping, etc., but it is often hard for me to be at Scout events because of all the praying, etc. Some scout troops are very religious, ...

I too struggle with scouts. My son is 10. ( Claims to be a believer in GOD also ). Webelos finishing up, Boy Scouts next year. We are as tight as a drum, but I don't deny him his beliefs....which have come from elsewhere. It's difficult, But I will lead by example and be patient. He will know that he does not have to live in one of society's boxes. Anyway, I'm new here and yes, scouts is a conflict
