I've been here a few days, actually level 4..., whatever that means...?
webbew1 comments on Dec 31, 2017:
Considering the behavior demonstrated by many people in the conservative movement these days, it's very difficult to, in good conscience, justify so much nefarious action and bad behavior without having a man in the sky to figuratively pat one on the back and say that it's all cool and it all makes sense. You won't find too many conservatives among athiests. An athiest conservative doesn't need a god to cover up for being an a-hole. An athiest conservative will tell you they're an a-hole straight to your face and not give a crap what you think about it. There aren't too many folks out there who wish to go through life knowing very well that they lack any sort of moral compass and have the onions to walk around with it printed on their forehead. Most want to be seen as good, upstanding citizens. So, no. You won't find many conservatives around these parts.
One of my first questions that couldn’t be answered.
webbew1 comments on Dec 31, 2017:
More than likely if this cockamamie story did actually happen, the god of the Bible finally figured out that he'd better head back in to the shop, refire the kiln and bake up a few more humans or his little ant farm was going to die off real quick. Cain, Abel and Seth sitting around giving each other hand jobs clearly wasn't working.

Christian terrorists are quite smart
webbew1 comments on Dec 30, 2017:
Your average garden variety terrorist is pretty empty headed. It's the rare one that isn't who can do real damage on a large scale. Crazy is dangerous, but there is nothing is more dangerous than crazy and smart.
Are there any entertaining men out there?
webbew1 comments on Dec 30, 2017:
If you're looking for some strapping bucks for entertainment purposes and you have lots of $$$$$, might I suggest the Caribbean. Lots of middle age women and college girls on spring break head down that way for casual encounters with the local island gentlemen whom western women seem to desire. Help a Rastafarian buy a new Jeep!
Single or Partnered, looking or not?
webbew1 comments on Dec 30, 2017:
Single. Not really looking anymore. Not in the United States anyway. The market here is far too competative for anyone who doesn't look like a movie star and have the game of a pick up artist or at least puts six figures in the bank each and every year. I know I'm far too fat and fugly to find a partner whom I would find attractive enough to turn me on romantically here in the United States. Nor has any woman of average to above average attractiveness from here in the US ever shown even the remotest romantic interest in me. I can't make up for my laundry list of physical flaws with game and/or money, so I'm basically a lethal combination of negative traits which puts me in the category of the unfuckables here in the US market. In fact, I might just even be the club president. Searching for romantic partners here in the US is a waste of time for me. I tend to do much better in over seas countries where women chase men more and the US dollar goes far enough to put a sparkle in any pretty girl's smile.
Ok, another couple weeks and another list of improvements (hopefully) to the site.

I actually like my job, and the money is pretty good.... when there is actually work. The last three months have been pretty awful.
How much $ does a person need to be content & comfortably enjoy life?
webbew1 comments on Dec 28, 2017:
It ultimately depends upon the cost of goods and services. With the market as it is now, I'd say if a family of four can't live comfortably and invest wisely on a maximum job related income of $250,000.00/ yr., then they're living an irresponsible lifestyle which causes grave damage to the economy as well as society as a whole.

I have to agree with The Zombies. The best season is the time of the season for loving.

webbew1 comments on Dec 28, 2017:
Whiskey and donuts. The staff of life.... until it kills you.
Ok, say you meet someone here and the two of you really click.
webbew1 comments on Dec 28, 2017:
It would have to have a pretty damn good chance of succeeding over the long haul. I can do my job anywhere, but moving to a new location just for a relationship is a pretty big hassle if things go ass over apple cart in a month or two. One thing I can say is I wouldn't do it right away. The first year or so would probably involve a great deal of traveling back and forth.
What would it be like to be married to you?
webbew1 comments on Dec 28, 2017:
Kind of like being married to a white guy version of Urkle.
I think atheists are tolerant of the religious. Why aren't the religious tolerant of atheists?
webbew1 comments on Dec 27, 2017:
The purpose of organized religion is to make money. Just like a corporation. If you are not a customer who is buying their product, you are not making organized religion money, and you are therefore a problem.
World's First Sex Robot: A good or a bad idea?
webbew1 comments on Dec 27, 2017:
We're a long, long ways away from developing an artificial life form which is genuinely capable of mimicking those traits which bring about feelings of deep intimacy and fulfilling companionship within us. It's not likely to happen in our lifetimes, and even the youngest of us on this board will likely be very old if it does. No. I would have no interest in a sex robot. It would be nothing more than a glorified, very expensive Fleshlight.
How important is romance in a relationship?
webbew1 comments on Dec 27, 2017:
I would say that romance, attraction and the physical intimacy are extremely vital to the early stages of a relationship. Without it, all two people are really doing is settling for whom ever they could find out of fear of winding up alone. As time goes on and the business of child rearing and paying the bills begins, it is companionship which will see the relationship through life's ups and downs. However, without the romance, attraction and physical intimacy of the early stages of a long term relationship, what are the odds that a seed of resentment will begin to grow because two people are disappointed they wound up with someone whom they never, at any point, loved romantically?
"Lies the Church Told Us About Sex" by Neil Carter (aka Godless in Dixie)
webbew1 comments on Dec 27, 2017:
The church can keep #14. I have no interest in pursuing long term relationships with virgins. I need to know that the woman I am with likes men and enjoys sex. It would be unfortunate to be years in to a relationship and have your partner suddenly realize that they are gay. Especially if children are involved.
How do we, as a community, deal with the inevitable trolls that show up?
webbew1 comments on Dec 27, 2017:
I love trolls. Trolls are fun. I've dealt with them on message boards before and they're so stupid and predictable it's pathetic. Trolls are play toys to be kicked around for your amusement. Always remember that.

Is life "fair"?
webbew1 comments on Dec 27, 2017:
Depends upon what one classifies as fair. If by fair you mean that every single person is born with exactly the same intelligence, attractiveness, drive and initiative, then the answer is no. If by fair you mean that the playing field by which everybody enters this extremely tough, hard knock game called life is even, then in the grand scheme of things the answer is yes.

webbew1 comments on Dec 27, 2017:

webbew1 comments on Dec 27, 2017:
It was founded upon both. You have the right to practice the religion of your choice so long as it does not endanger or interfere in the lives of others. You also have the right to NOT practice a religion if you so choose. And you have the right to not have religion forced upon you in the public square. This means that no one can force you to patronize a business or attend a public gathering in which specific religious views are being enacted and/or expressed. You have every right to abstain without fear of recourse.

And to these people, that shit makes perfect sense.

webbew1 comments on Dec 27, 2017:
I agree with those who say it's probably best to move on. Not only will you be unhappy in your immediate relationship with this guy, you'll also never be able to connect with anybody in the circle of people he runs with, and you'll find yourself on the outside looking in all of the time. Find someone whose life path runs more in line with your own.

Composers from 15th through 18th century Europe had their works commissioned by the king, who was basically a puppet for the church. Your choices as a composer were to keep to religious and church related themes or to be poor and have nowhere for your works to be performed. It's not that all of these composers were christians. I'd even be willing to bet that a lot of them were closet athiests. They did what they had to do in order to keep themselves from living on the street.

How much of your lifestyle would you voluntarily give-up to further the greater good?
webbew1 comments on Dec 26, 2017:
Well, I don't really have much, so at this point I don't have a lifestyle to give up. However, if my business were to suddenly take off I would certainly like to live a comfortable lifestyle, although I don't need a twelve bedroom mansion and a garage with 50 cars. Nor do I require more money than I could possibly spend in six lifetimes. I guess I'd be willing to give up all that in the name of the greater good. I'd probably use the money to invest back in the business to pay my workers higher salaries, offer them better benefits packages and invest more in their training. That way I could hire top quality people and offer a better product to my customers.

Is there such a thing as business ethics?
webbew1 comments on Dec 26, 2017:
Business ethics went out the window back in the 80's when greed began to take precedence over striving to be exceptional at something and allowing money and fame to grow through effort and hard work. As a result, genuine genius and ingenuity has been replaced with cut throat privateering. Gifted individuals of principle and integrity have been replaced by con men and charlatans who are better snake oil salesman than they are entrepreneurs.

What has led you to be atheist or agnostic?
webbew1 comments on Dec 26, 2017:
Religion has never been a big deal to me. In fact, I've always found it to be rather annoying. When I was a kid, my parents used to send me to catachysm on Wednesday nights, which pissed me off because I couldn't play. In 5th grade, my parents pulled me from public school and put me in catholic school, which pissed me off because I was plenty happy in public school and none of my friends were making the move. Today, as an adult, I see militant religious zealots trying to take over my government, which REALLY pisses me off. Many who subscribe to a religion say that it's a source of comfort and happiness for them. For me, it's just the opposite. It's like an aggrivating itch right in the middle of my back with no means to scratch it.
Is it rationally justified to pay for sex ?
webbew1 comments on Dec 26, 2017:
You always pay for sex. One way or another. So long as it involves two or more consenting adults and nobody winds up in the hospital getting something pulled out of their ass on the tax payers dime, what people do in the privacy of their own bedroom and how they go about it is their business.

webbew1 comments on Dec 25, 2017:
I find that I rely on Facebook more for news sources outside of the United States media and updates from my favorite bands than I do anything else these days. In that respect it's still great. I no longer trust the US media and my favorite artists receive no support from the corporate music industry in the US market. As for personal use, I utilize Facebook Messenger to keep in touch with friends and family who live in other parts of the world. That's about it. Every now and again a good meme will show up on my Facebook feed, but other than that Facebook is pretty dull.
If the US had a recall on the presidential election tomorrow, do you think the result would be much ...
webbew1 comments on Dec 25, 2017:
I would hope so. There are a lot of people who didn't vote because they didn't honestly think that Trump could win the election. There are also those who, for what ever reason, didn't understand what a con artist and charlatan Trump is and are now realizing what rubes they were. The 2018 mid-term elections should mark a big shift away from the Trump agenda, and if it doesn't then the country is beyond saving. Nothing will be left here but a few theocratic oligarchs and the ignoramous hillbilly's they run roughshod over.

My parents and grandparents are gone and my brother is involved with his own family, so I usually don't do much for the holidays either. The holidays (especially christmas) are more for kids anyway, and I have good memories from those days. As an adult, the holidays are just a pain in the ass.
Anyone else ever felt guilty because your family was disappointed once they found out your beliefs?
webbew1 comments on Dec 25, 2017:
I never brought it up. I don't consider differing perspectives on religion to be important enough to break up families over. When my family would go through the whole religious ritual thing, I'd play along and jump through all the correct hoops at all the right times. What harm can sitting through the occasional two minute prayer or hour long religious service do in the interest of maintaining peace and quiet? I guess for me it was less about guilt and more about avoiding wasting unneccesary energy on a drawn out, dead end argument. I already knew every nuance, detail and angle of their belief system, and being exposed to it during brief prayer rituals and religious services was quite enough for me, thank you very much.
I like Christian music. Do you see a problem with that?
webbew1 comments on Dec 24, 2017:
Many of the early classical works by the likes of Betthoven, Mozart and Chopin are christian based and are inarguably exceptional. However, I find a large majority of todays christian rock to be a faded carbon copy of boring, predictable, corporately produced, lowest common denomenator cookie cutter music which isn't all that great in the first place.

Places like the Netherlands seem to have a better grasp on how to handle intoxicating substances than locations such as the United States and the Philippines do. Attempting to fight a war on drugs is and has always been a losing battle. Traffickers love a good war on drugs. Illegal drugs means that they don't have to pay taxes on their wares.

Erotica made by women, for women. Opinion pls.
webbew1 comments on Dec 23, 2017:
The word erotica was invented by the media as a means of using softer language to avoid calling it what it is; pornography. It's very difficult for some to swallow the notion that women watch porn, get themselves off to thoughts of naked men and even occasionally pay for sex. Just like men do. True story..... A few months ago I was in Costa Rica. While in line at immigration, I was chatting with a woman to pass the time before we got our passports stamped. Fast forward two days later, I saw that same woman picking up a hooker at a bar in San Jose. You'll never hear about that one on Nightline with Barbara Walters.

Hi, Ruetres! Nice to see a fellow Cornhusker on the board. Some religious people have used the "everything happens for a reason" cop out to avoid taking responsibility for their own behavior from as far back as I can remember. It's infinitely easier to say, everything happens for a reason (Translated: I don't give a shit) than it is to make the effort to ensure that the playing field is level so that success or failure amongst able bodied and minded individuals is based upon individual effort and drive rather than trickery and smoke and mirrors.

Chiropractors.. are they witch doctors do they do some good?
webbew1 comments on Dec 23, 2017:
Don't believe I've ever heard of chiropracters being called witch doctors before. That's a new one to me. If you hit a curb with your vehicle and your steering is out of balance, you take your car to a mechanic to have it realigned. If you have an accident which jars your body enough to throw your skeletal and muscular structures out of alignment, you go to a chiropracter to have it straightened out. Seems perfectly logical to me, but to each their own, I guess.

Are there people who just shouldn’t be in romantic relationships ever?
webbew1 comments on Dec 22, 2017:
I would say that there are a couple of different categories which people fall in to here. The first category would be those who should rightfully never be allowed to be in a romantic relationship. Those with a dark nature who are so abusive and/or self absorbed that they have no capacity what so ever to bring fulfillment to another person. The second category would be those who have unfortunate physical barriers which don't allow sexual attraction to manifest in their interactions with others. While the sexual fire which is present in the early stages of a romantic relationship does indeed cool off a bit over time, there can be no denying that this phase is very integral to the separation between what can be categorized as a genuine romantic relationship and mere friendship. Unfortunately, the world is an ass backward place, and we often see those who fall in to the first category doing just fine when it comes to sex and romance. Meanwhile, those who fall in to the second category and are otherwise good people find themselves either living a solitary existence or settling for something less than romantically fulfilling in order to keep from being alone.

Do you have to be religious to believe in the soul?
webbew1 comments on Dec 18, 2017:
It seems to me as though the study of NDE's gives us the greatest insight into whether we have, for lack of a bettet word, a soul or not. What this all really boils down to is the question of whether those processes which make us conscious and aware continue on after brain death. Scientific studies conducted at the moment of death tell us that the brain dies from the top down. The first parts of the brain to go are those which are responsible for higher thinking skills; critical thinking, the ability to take in, evaluate and react to stimuli. The last to go is the part of the brain responsible for the perception of light. Skeptics will say that once the process of brain death is complete, that's it. Every bit of knowledge and experience we've accumulated over a lifetime simply discipates, and the experiences described in NDE's are merely the last embers of a dying brain. But there's always that light at the end of the tunnel, isn't there? In order to explain this away, skeptics need to be able to answer why those who have experienced NDE's are even able to recall and describe a light at the end of a tunnel at all. After all, the parts of the brain responsible for taking in, evaluating and reacting to stimuli are no longer functioning, right? At that point, we should have no more ability to take in, evaluate and react to stimuli than a rock does. Then there's the stories of NDE's where people report out of body experiences where they are able to describe in graphic detail events going on around them which they shouldn't even have the ability to perceive, let alone evaluate and react to. Given these variables, I would say that there is a very good chance that our consciousness carries on in some fashion after brain death. What happens after that is anybody's guess.

10 Stats and Facts You Can Use to Educate (or Infuriate) Trumpsters | Forward Progressives
webbew1 comments on Dec 17, 2017:
Don't even waste time with hard core Trump supporters. Trump could shit on their pillow and call it a bed time mint and they'd eat it up like it came in a green foil wrapper with the word Ande's printed on the front in gold leafing. Trump's base is made up of about 26% of the population. They're a hopeless waste of energy which can best be spent on more productive pursuits. Use your time and resources working to reach the other 74% of the population. Some of those people did not vote for Trump in 2016 and they simply need to be kept engaged. Some did vote for Trump thinking that he might make some sort of difference, but are having serious doubts about their choice. Some stayed at home and didn't vote at all because they didn't honestly believe that he could win the election.
From my experience, new athiest tend to be very angry.
webbew1 comments on Dec 16, 2017:
Can't say I disagree with you. There are too many athiests out there who would burn down every church, temple and synagogue on the planet and impail all their members until dead if they thought they could get away with it. Which as far as I'm concerned makes them no better than militant christians who blow up abortion clinics and shoot up night clubs, schools and church's.
Hear Ed Sheeran, Andrea Bocelli Sing 'Perfect' With Orchestra - Rolling Stone
webbew1 comments on Dec 16, 2017:
Much better than I expected. The orchestral arrangement doesn't overpower everything else as I feared it would. Very tastefully done. Only thing I don't like is that the first verse is sung in english. Why do the first verse in english when the rest is not? Seems pointless, and it interrupts the flow.

What do you think when people refer to abortion providers and pro-choice activists as baby killers?
webbew1 comments on Dec 16, 2017:
No one in their right mind wants abortion to exist. Abortion exists as a neccessity because there have been far too many road blocks put in the way of the development of 100% safe and effective birth control. The anti-abortion movement is not, and has never been about preventing abortion. It's about telling people what they can and cannot do in the privacy of their own bedroom and with whom. If anti-abortion activists were really all about preventing abortions, they'd be on every street corner in every city and town in the world handing out free condoms. They'd also be dumping all that money they seem to have in to scientific research on pregnancy prevention. Not standing in front of Planned Parenthood waving picket signs.
Does everybody need somebody to love?

Tank is full, switch is on. Night is warm, cops are gone. Rocket bike is all her own. It's called a hurricane. She told me once it's quite a ride. It's shaped so there's this place inside, Where if you're moving you can hide. Safe within the rain. She wants to run away, But there's nowhere that she can go. Nowhere the pain won't come again. But she can hide, Hide in the pouring rain. She rides the eye of the hurricane. Tell the truth, explain to me How you got this need for speed. She laughed and said "it might just be The next best thing to love. " Hope is gone and she confessed When you lay your dream to rest You can get what's second best But it's hard to get enough. She wants to run away But there's nowhere that she can go. Nowhere the pain won't come again. But she can hide, Hide in the pouring rain. She rides the eye of the hurricane. We saw her ride so fast last night. Racing by a flash of light. Riding quick, the street was dark, A shining truck she thought was parked. It blocked her path, stopped her heart, But not the hurricane. She saw her chance to slip the trap. There was just the room to pass in back. But then it moved, closed the gap. She never felt the pain. She wants to run away, But there's nowhere that she can go. Nowhere the pain won't come again. But she can hide, Hide in the pouring rain. She rides the eye of the hurricane. She rides the eye of the hurricane. - Eye Of The Hurricane, David Wilcox (from the album, How Did You Find Me Here)

Why do people troll and use ad hominem attacks?
webbew1 comments on Dec 15, 2017:
There are a few very important things you must never, ever forget when dealing with trolls: - Trolls are stupid. - Review Rule #1. - Trolls resort to ad hominem attacks because of Rule #1. Trolls are not capable of formulating a tangible argument to support a supposition. - Review Rule # 1 - Because you are not a troll and because you are not stupid, you have the ability to lower yourself to their level at your leisure. Conversely, they will NEVER be able to raise themselves to your level because of Rule # 1. - Review Rule # 1.

Suicide?
webbew1 comments on Dec 15, 2017:
There's good to be found in life too. The bad moments help us to appreciate the good times even more. If you're having suicidal thoughts, perhaps you're suffering from climical depression and should consider seeking medical treatment. Clinical depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain, and that shit doesn't go away on its own. It's not something you can talk yourself out of either.
I'm glad to see more and more people join the revolution against religion and dogma that has kept ...
webbew1 comments on Dec 15, 2017:
I'm not inclined to waste my time fighting some revolition against religion, so long as religion does not force its ideals upon myself or anyone else who does not subscribe to their dogma. Unfortunately, this is what we have happening in the United States right now. Militant religious groups are attempting to infiltrate my government, and I take serious issue with that. When religious groups start keeping their beliefs inside their own homes and their own churches or temples, we will no longer have a problem. Life is too short to start battles over small time bullshit. People can believe that the moon is made of green cheese and pray to the flying spagbetti monster god for all I care. Just don't try to force it upon me.

Pink floyd wish you were here cover art
webbew1 comments on Dec 15, 2017:
Keep in mind that this was the time when Syd Barrett was losing his mind, and the band members blamed much of his issues on the stresses of trying to adhere to the bands vision while at the same time pleasing their record label. The cover portrays a subsurvient man (he is bowing) on fire, shaking hands with a man in a suit. Presumably, the man on fire represents Syd Barrett and the dominant figure represents the record company. Just my take. Roger Waters and David Gilmour reveal very little when it comes to the meaning behind the bands work.

While corporations and billionaires are handed billiones, you'll get a small pitiance... which will be taken away in spades when programs that middle class and lower middle class families rely on are slashed. As a person who runs their own home repair business, this tax plan depresses me. Thanks to the Republicans, I'm going to have to lower my prices so most of my customers can afford my services. Oh.... and I don't even remember the last time I could afford health insurance.
