Teachers Sounding The Alarm Over ‘Room Clear’ Method | NBC Nightly News - YouTube
wordywalt comments on Oct 14, 2019:
As a former teacher, specialist in the research in effective teaching and school effectiveness, and administrator, I would say that something is terribly wrong here. First, any principal who would allow such things to happen in his or school should be fired. Second, I would lay odds that the teacher is truly lacking in classroom and disciplinary management skills, and/or in ability to connect with her students . Those three things are almost always the sources of such chaos.

wordywalt comments on Oct 10, 2019:
I was drafte4d in 1959. The time on my own away from home helped me to mature in many ways. In the Army, contact with men from all sectors of society and all parts of the country helped me to learn about people and to reduce biases I grew up with. A personal reaction against the stress of "don't think, do as you are told, on uniformity, and on conformity created in me an internal reaction and I resolved that I, and no one else would define me. I learned how to resist without "fighting city hall head on." That service also brought me to West Berlin at the height of the Cold War exposed me to a different culture, and heightened my cultural, intellectual, , and emotional development. It changed my focus in college from science to the social sciences. As I consequence, I have always believed that ALL young people -- man or women -- should be required to provide one to two years of service to our country in some capacity-- military, Peace Corps, Forest Service, "Teach for America or whatever. I believe that it would benefit all of our young people and our country.

I had acre pea seeds sent to me when I lived in Kansas, and in the Kansas summer heat they produced like crazy. I am sure that they would do well anywhere in the South or Midwest.

My story is similar , but significantly different in others. I was 25 years old before I ever cooked for myself, ironed my own shirts, did my own laundry, or did simply housekeeping. Once married for the first time, I wanted to concentrate on my career and on being the primary provider, so I turned all of the cooking, housekeeping, too much of the child-rearing, and the family finances over to my wife. I grew to regret that. My first wife turned out to be too self-centered, manipulative, and coercive to be a good shaper of the lives of our daughters. She also eventually used her managing of our finances into an opportunity to take almost all that I had earned and saved. But, as a consequence of that I have become pretty good at taking care of myself and my own life and relationships.
