@Barnie2years Yeah, you're right. It's always tougher to organize people who can think for themselves than to get a bunch of ignorant zealots to do stuff for ridiculous reasons. Voltaire said those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities. We see that all too clearly recently, but it is nothing new.

Nobody in the choir sings louder than the reformed hooker. If you agree to be secretary of state, you sign on to the entire sordid history of American imperialism. I welcome the secretary's new found conscience, and I do wish she found her voice a lot sooner. However, without forgetting her past performance (and indeed the performances of almost all of her predecessors), any voice in protest of the current rapidly-evolving fascism is welcome. It doesn't absolve her, but if her support helps, hell, I'll take it.

@Freedompath First, Americans are, in general, intellectually lazy. Second, it is a lot easier to follow along and not rock the boat than it is to take a stand, especially in the face of physical, social, and psychological intimidation. Third, and you allude to it, both traditional and newer social media are very good at brainwashing and substituting propaganda for an individual's thought and consideration. Defunding public education has NOT helped, and the increase in homeschooling, IMO, has made it worse. That's my take, worth every cent you paid for it.

@Leeshi There is an old concept in logic, popularized by Sagan but you can trace a version of it back to mathematician Laplace, that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. I don't mean to patronize, I would guess you are familiar with it. Absent any evidence at all, let alone extraordinary evidence, I'm comfortable concluding that any of the entities anyone claims to be God (and having those characteristics which would define that for anyone) are at *least* unproven and are, for all practical purposes, untrue. I have no doubts, even understanding that proof may yet surface. I also doubt that it will. We each have our own concept of our reality, this is mine. And I'm sticking to it. ☺️ https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Extraordinary_claims_require_extraordinary_evidence

fucker carlson is a racist, homophobe, nasty piece of tv media. I am not even gonna try and listen or read a transcript of that interview.

Read the quote from the orangutan. just for personal political validation and entertainment. There aren't even a matching number of subjects and predicates, let alone direct objects. I'd love to see someone try to diagram one of those fragments, can't call them sentences.
Maybe that's why animals have always liked me more?

He's giving her options. That's fair. And they are more honest than usual. But the intriguing part of the gag is this : we don't know how she replied. 😊

zeuser replies on Jun 18, 2019:
This happens to me here in North Cackalacky a lot. The question is usually along the lines of "what church are you a member of ", and when I say I've been an atheist for 45 years, I get "yeah, right. But seriously, which church?"
Things are getting a little soggy in Orlando. What smells worse than a wet bigot?

A wet traitorous, misogynistic, lying, buffoonish, idiotic bigot? This is how extreme his followers are. He will get them worked up to believe that the election is going to be stolen. He did it in 2016 and it's coming again. It won't be pretty.

zeuser replies on Jun 17, 2019:
This comic was posted in the comments section of an article in Salon indicating that there was a high probability that the talking yam will pull this and the republicans would back his play. The gist was that democrats should expect it to happen and prepare an actionable response to go into effect immediately when he tries it, which sounds prudent to me. The orange shitstain has been dropping hints he intends to do this using his funny/not funny method, so I think it's more likely than not.
