I'm a recovering alcoholic/addict. I am active for years in a 12 step program and have found a work around in the belief in a higher power requirement and remain a devout atheist. Are there any other people like me on this site?

This is a question for recovering addicts (drug, sex, food, etc) . How are you recovering from your addiction without god? Have you modified the 12 steps? If you do use a higher power or powers, can you describe those powers?
