What are your thoughts/ideas on prophesy?
Druvius comments on Dec 17, 2018:
No one has ever predicted the future in any prophetic sense. Depends on how one is defining other dimensions.
Mueller Exposes Putin's Hold Over Trump
Druvius comments on Dec 17, 2018:
LOL. Um, if Putin has a hold on Trump he didn't get anything for it. The opposite in fact. Just another addition to Mueller's house of cards, like Russiagate has been since the beginning. Note like the rest of Russiagate, no hard evidence, just hearsay by dishonest people trying to avoid going to jail.
We don't let our two outside very often. This is one reason:

Druvius comments on Dec 17, 2018:
Fairly typical case of spacial disorientation at night by an inexperienced pilot. His obsession with UFOs doesn't change anything, and may well have been a contributing factor to his crash. And parts of his plane did wash ashore, no real mystery here. https://skeptoid.com/episodes/4385

Snort. Every president since Reagan has served the bankers, the Pentagon, and the oligarchs. The Dems are just better at giving lip service to the public.
Johnson & Johnson shares nosedive on report it knew of asbestos in Baby Powder
Druvius comments on Dec 15, 2018:
Yeah, another area where our legal system and reality bear no relation. If baby powder causes ovarian cancer, the increased risk is so tiny as to be insignificant. Basically there is no good evidence that baby powder causes Ovarian cancer, and strong evidence it doesn't. Lawyers are going to make a pile of money (that's what this was all about to begin with,) a company will go bankrupt, and a lot of people with cancer win the lottery. Nonsense like this is why the aliens don't contact us.
I've befriended a young feral. I'm calling him Bart (after Black Bart Roberts) for now.
Druvius comments on Dec 14, 2018:
LOL This is the sort of "feral" behavior that got cats domesticated in the first place. That and "OMG, look at what it is doing to the mice in the granary!" no doubt. :)
saw this meme pass in my FB feed.
Druvius comments on Dec 14, 2018:
Not surprising, it was widely believed in revolutionary and post revolutionary America that Canada was the "14th colony" that had only been kept from joining the US by geographic isolation. Wasn't much truth to it during the revolution, and afterwards when 250,000 Tories forced to flee from the US had settled in Upper Canada, no truth to it at all. the Canadian War of Independence put a final end to these lingering fantasies in the US. Still, I warn my Canadian friends when they visit the States, they will meet Americans who think Canada is part of the US.
Finally a common sense approach to mass shootings in schools that will really work.
Druvius comments on Dec 14, 2018:
Yes, cause normalizing school shootings and pretending they are a fact of life is such a common sense way of dealing with a problem. Snort.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, Bigfoot.
Druvius comments on Dec 8, 2018:
I mean, devil's advocate here. Maybe a tiny population is the remotest areas of the west. And if it exists, they might be very smart, almost human level intelligence, and they religiously keep their distance from anything that smells even remotely of humans, like trap cameras. Almost completely nocturnal, and they bury their dead. Still, several layers of special pleading here. I mean, if one shows up as roadkill tomorrow, it's not going to upset any scientific applecarts, it's not impossible that such exists. For all practical purposes though it can be ruled out.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Bigfoot.
Druvius comments on Dec 8, 2018:
As much as I would like to believe there is a relict population of hominids in the American west, I too think we can safely say it's a modern myth. Though the fossil argument doesn't fly, hominids tend not to fossilize, and there's things like the coelocanths that managed to go for tens of millions of years without leaving fossil evidence. The fact that none have been spotted on surveillance footage, trap cameras, or hit by a car seems pretty definitive to me. And the footprints, no one that found any ever said "Let's go get Joe's hounds and track this thing down!"
I think we may have done this before, but it's great fun. What are your Top 5 comedies of all time?
Druvius comments on Dec 8, 2018:
Game Night, Groundhog Day, Fandango, This is Spinal Tap, and Dark Star. Not much for most conventional comedies.
Aquatic Ape Hypothesis VS Savannah Theory
Druvius comments on Dec 8, 2018:
I suspect that hominids started exploiting wetlands/shores as they got smarter. I doubt it played a huge role in our evolution, tool use and exploiting fire likely drove our upright posture and loss of body hair. Still, all debatable still, though as I understand it the "Aquatic Ape hypothesis" isn't well supported, we were never a primarily aquatic or semi aquatic species. Interesting question.
Really? How odd.
Druvius comments on Dec 8, 2018:
I hear it's really good in coffee. I suspect it's only used in tiny amounts, would think that excess human breast milk would best be used for feeding babies. In any event perfectly good food, we are designed to exist on it. Now baking with Moon Blood, pass.

Do you agree with Kadhammer's comments?

Huh? They gave him clear warning that lethal force would be used if he persisted in his efforts. He literally gave them no choice. If they had murdered him when he first set foot on the island I would have some sympathy.
Your thoughts on Aliens:
Druvius comments on Dec 3, 2018:
Well, SETI has come up with buttkiss so far. If there is intelligent life such as ours, it's rare. My suspicion is that intelligence such as ours is an evolutionary dead end. We'll see, there's a number of promising SETI avenues yet to be explored.

Noah's Ark
Druvius comments on Nov 16, 2018:
By 1830 or so the geologic evidence was clear, there was never a worldwide flood. Sea levels have gone up and down hundreds of feet, but it took centuries, nothing like the 40 days in tbe Bible. There have always been local and regional floods, and the Noah myth could easily be the result of one of them.
Ok maybe it was not an alien craft and the acceleration was outgassing.

"The inner workings of the Mueller investigation are a total mess.
Druvius comments on Nov 15, 2018:
Well, the first round of indictments showed Russiagate was nothinggate. The second round showed it was just partisan political theatre. Don't hold your breath waiting for Mueller to come up with anything concrete. Druvius comments on Oct 26, 2018:
You're gonna get some flack on this. In fact one has to even wonder if it's a troll post. You might want to explain how it is you are moving where you can't bring your cat, because to many people your post is the equivalent of "Well, can't bring my kids to my new home, so putting them up for adoption." And no, please don't abandon your cat, at least find a good home for it. I'm sure lots of people here can give good advice on how to do that. Good luck to you and your kitty. :)
The Fermi Paradox Where is everybody?
Druvius comments on Oct 26, 2018:
Yeah, is beginning to look bleak. I suspect intelligience such as ours is an evolutionary dead end. And since we don't even know how likely it was for something like us to evolve, we might be the only one. SETI still has numerous promising avenues to explore though, so no need to give up hope yet.
