Hi,
Sir Halibut the cat's kidney function dropped slightly. The Dr. decreased his thyroid medicine and now he is bouncing off the walls and starting to loose a little weight. I pick him up and weigh him every three days but the kidney function is better (less pee clumps in litter). The new problem is my wife went on a weekend meditation retreat and it made him mad and he peed on her side of the bed (half a gallon of Natures Miracle fixed it.) However, he did it again right before we went to bed last night. He does not do it to my side just her side. I don't want to have to restrict his access to our room but ... Any suggestions on how to get this to stop?

sooner or later one gets through when not looking and the cat cannot get out makes it worse
He is not doing it out of spite. Cats can't really think things through that completely. It could be stress or it could be due to his medical problems. In view of your statement that he has been bouncing off the walls, my guess is it is due to the medical situation. More tweaking of the meds might help, but it may be a permanent situation. This areticle has a couple of suggestions.

Put Piddle pads - sold for training puppies - over the favored spots - it worked when my senior cat did it.
Also put a cup of white vinegar in with the comforter or sheets when they are washed. It helps to finish removing the scent so they don't reapply.

Ooh nasty. Water spray to stop him getting up there. But why not just shut the door and give him a cat hutch or pillow outside the door to guard the room?
