As a recent NOW member who joined the election committee, I've had the privilege over the past few weekends of going over political candidates questionnaires and interviewing those candidates for offices from federal congressional seats to school board seats. The purpose is to decide whether or not to propose endorsement the organization. Funny, almost all the candidates who replied to NOW (National Organization for Women) are democrats - no republicans and 1 or 2 independents. They all seem to be very sincere in wanting to make progressive changes and most are knowledgeable about the issues. A couple did not align well with NOW's specific objectives or did not seem as knowledgeable about the system as we would like, but there are quite a few well qualified enthusiastic candidates out there. Whatever you think is corrupt about the Democratic party, it is not evident in these face to face meetings with the rank and file of candidates who are very interested in solving problems.

The DNC eliminated Bernie Sanders and picked the candidate with tons of Super PAC money, and of course the weapons makers of California knew where their money was too.

Is there any reason why anyone should ever trust the DNC

I am still a Democrat but not sure about anything they say anymore.

I would get in touch with the local Demo office in your area to find out if they are on the same page with your politics - local is the best way to get good people into office and the demos are generally progressive whereas the GOPers are apt to be conservative - anti-choice, religious, anti-woman and pro-business at the expense of workers and the environment.

I agree with the idea that we should choose local representatives without regard for the party they may be associated with, rather by what they actually do or say they will try to do, and

that is what I do at all levels, choosing Bernie Sanders first and then looking for anyone else who might want to keep some work in America.

I'll just look at the websites and then ask local people who are in the know to dispute or confirm what I read, and possibly the parties themselves.

Your penultimate comment 'pro-business at the expense of workers' does not appear to match up well with present day reality. Bill Clinton ended Glass Steagall and signed into being NAFTA, Pres. Obama spent a lot of the first part of his Presidency attempting to reduce spending on the unemployed, and Hillary as well as starting wars, also declared the TPP to be the gold standard in trade agreements.

One reason Donald Trump won was because the Democrats had alienated the working class. True we are so far down that road it is hard to think of anyway to put Humpty Dumpty back together again but one other thing we can be very clear on is we would rather have a President who is friends with the Russians than one who wants to play brinkmanship with them.

I hope he doesn't bow to the press and start doing the things Hillary was doing.

The Democrats are not on the left or left leaning, they are so far out on the right that even with her amazing eyesight Sarah Palin can't see them from where she lives.

With all due respect, when you enter a party as corrupt as this one, you're left with becoming corrupt or your agenda being corrupted and or nulled. Same as the republican party, they already have their agenda, progressive isn't part of it. It doesn't serve those that own the party.

I'm not naive, as I was when I voted for independent John Anderson in the 70's , thereby helping Ronald Reagan to become president, but your view is deeply cynical.

@TerriCity well good luck to you just the same!
