Alexander Scriabin Mid-Period Piano Works: Scriabin's middle period piano works are where he begins to truly break away from conventionality, yet still manages to maintain the accessibility of his early works. He was now making the transition from conventional tonality to the idiosyncratic atonality of his later years. I will use two selection to represent this phase. The first, an introvert piece, Poeme op. 32 no.1 in F sharp major, is languid and sensual. The second, an extrovert piece, Etude op.42 no. 5 in C sharp minor, is demonic and sensual.

And because its my favorite performance of the piece, I'll will also include a cello & piano duo performance of the first piece.

And the Horowitz performance! Golden antiquity.

Others have equaled him in the churning outer sections of the piece, but he is nonpareil in the inner melodic sections, fully realizing it's vampiric eroticism.

@Rossy92 I doubt that Horowitz or Scriabin thought of it in those terms. Lol.

@FrayedBear Vampiric, maybe not. Erotic, definitely.
