The first draft of the Declaration of Independence, Jefferson called out the hypocrisy of "Christian" King George and basically calls for the end to slavery.

Am I reading that right? Probably not, but how deistic were the "founding fathers?"

Jefferson worked with Thaddeus Kosciuszko to move slaves to Poland and get educated. He was in a position to avoid tarnishing his political career by making such a bold move publicly. It's quite an interesting friendship. Jefferson's ratty coat that he always wore was a gift from him.

He is a constantly confounding character.
