My son is finally going off to university. He has been out of the house for a while but usually close by. We have grown much closer over this past few years. I am having a difficult time adjusting to the idea that he will be too far away to go have lunch or just hang out.
I am proud that he took the community college route for the beginning of his degree, and is transferring in as a junior without a world of debt. He is a smart, talented, well versed young man. I certainly am going to see him grow into something special.
I write this through misty eyes.

Akfish, I do not know how old this post is, but thought to check in to see how you and your son are now doing. We are on week three of my son starting college, though, like you, that is near by.

Its tough, isnt it? Our job us to prepare them to leave us. It sounds as though youre proud of him, and that hes a good young man. Feel good about that. ?
