For those who operate businesses, I have a question:. I have a license to cut hair. I do not have any clientele. I was made an offer to rent a "booth" for 600 a month, with the understanding that I will receive further training from the guy renting the booth. He works downtown and rents a booth for more than 1,000 a month, he claims. After he finishes work, he will come in to train at 4 pm. As an investor, my first concern is that I will have to do all of the work. If I can get 2 clients per day at 10 dollars each, it should cover the costs of the booth rental. Also, in the morning, I can do car washes and sell sno cones before he arrives at 4 pm for "training". He wanted me to sign a one year contract, which I stated he should change to month to month, so I gave the option to quit if I'm losing money. Schools are nearby so he claims it will be busy when school starts. So the question is does this seem like a good idea or is it a waste of my time when I can make money buying and renting property? Is this a good way for me to develop sales skills?

Where does he rent that, who are his clients, what is his reputation there...etc. If he is the hottest thing going, you may do well to train with him for a year IF AND ONLY IF you also want to operate at that level as a stylist. If that is NOT your dream, then, no. Why dedicate a year of your life to it if you don't want to cut hair full time?
- Do you like buying/renting property? Can you survive if the property goes unrented?
- What sales skills in particular are you seeking to improve?
