Question: Why is nerdy currently synonymous to being passionate about anything? I hate r/gatekeeping, but it really does grind my gears. As someone that consistently gets dismissed as a giant 40 year old man child for liking video games, board games, and some anime, I feel like being an actual nerd is a badge other people that don't suffer such labels can claim.

I don’t mind what people think of me as much, as I’m going to keep doing what I do. I think what annoys me is that some people claim the same difficulties in relating to people as I do at times. Of course it’s never constructive to compare yourself to others and creating a competition on who suffers more. That doesn’t mean I have to ignore being annoyed. Is it constructive? No, but it is what it is.
