I know 3 language, Romanian, Spanish and English, now I am trying to learn Chinese, but those 5 tones (the same word has a different meaning in function of the Tone you use), are a painnnnn... )
It gives you the power to entertain Chinese people when you get it wrong, so they'll love you. Just go for it at speed and don't worry. If you get anywhere close to being able to speak Chinese usefully, you'll have got the hang of the tones by then anyway. Most people find tones difficult at first, but your ability to apply them to words will sound more natural the more you practise reading out texts.
