Can someone please explain why Portland has to host right-wing bigots and white nationalists who, overwhelmingly, are not even from this city or even this state? Why is it Portland has to host an event organized by someone from outside Oregon (if Joey Gibson wants to have a far right rally, why doesn't he have it in Washington, where he lives)? And why are we (the citizens of Portland) having to pay untold hundreds of thousands of dollars for cops and riot squads to protect and (evidently) support these characters?

I'm glad the protest didn't turn into Charlottesville like so many -- including the media -- were hoping for. I think the police did a pretty good job keeping the groups separate. In the end, it was just a small group of bigots wondering around the waterfront trying to provoke counter-protesters.
