Opinions aren't facts, but so many people never see the difference.

Are they afraid to face themselves, their own imperfections, or even to question their judgements and conclusions?

Or have they fallen under the control of their APEs?

The APEs always affect us, and often try to control us.
Assumptions feed our opinions ....

Perceptions are what WE see through our personal lenses ...
and our ....

Expectations, which colour everything we do, both positive and negative.

Mindfully manage your APEs; if you don't, they will control your life. And it won't be pretty!

This is what my experience tells me, how about you you?

Would an assumption be the same as a priori? Don't we always start out with a basic assumption and then use logic to lead us to a conclusion?

We have only five limited senses and then perceive (mentally process) what they mean (correctly of incorrectly).

Expectations are the filters we use.

Yeah. We make errors every step of the way. A good start is just to be aware of these.

Opinions are not facts but our perception of facts is subjective. Therein lies the debate!

Actually i define priori as an assumption "derived by reasoning from self-evident propositions." I have also found that the greatest deterrents to logical and accurate conclusions are the perceptions which lead is to make assumptions. We all see our worlds through the lenses of our paradigms; rose coloured or deeply darkened lenses can be the two extremes matching the person's expectations, both positive and negative. If people expect to lose in life, assuming they will based on their previous experiences, they often set in motion their self-fulfilling prophesy.

@josephr : Good post. Thanks for responding. I agree with your definitions. That helps me be clear.

Expectations do set us up. I call expectations "cognitive biases"

@dare2dream Yes, that's exactly what they are.
