I would be interested in seeing where the numbers came from, since churches are private and non-profit their books are not open to public scrutiny, so determining how much taxable revenue they have is nearly impossible.

If only???

If the Fortune 500 paid taxes, their share of the tax burden $$$$ZERO!!!

Corporations and the churches are criminals under the RICO act if it was ever enforced against their fraudulent crimes against us!!!

Most churches wouldn't survive very long without tax exemptions. Just think of the implications of taxing a place of worship? Governments aren't ready for the backlash of believers that would surely think the Antichrist is in control.

Sovereign Federal governments with money creating power do not require taxes to fund such programmes. Sub-national governments do. And as George Monbiot pointed out, the more local we act the more effective we become.

Such dreams.

The religious do get special privaleges.

That’s so wrong that they do.

All that wasted land and space inside those churches would provide places for the poor and homeless...and not just when they let them in for the one night at Christmas time.

Tax the mega churches, evangelical church is political anyway

It is a business, just like any other business!

But they — businesses — are not taxed.

That’s the messed up part.
