Hi, I blame it all on my father's genetics. He was one of eight siblings, and every one of them had a different autoimmune disorder, from lupus to RA to scleroderma and T1D. I developed an allergy to cow's milk when my mother could not breatfeed me anymore and had to give me milk (thiswas right after WW2. There was no formula. My parents had to buy a sheep and milk it for me. I was finally diagnosed with diabetes at 16. In typical teenager fashion, I di not comply with anything, but the "honeymoon period " laste just long enough for me to come to my senses.
I have four daughters, two of them are diabetic, one granddaughter is TD1. I have become smarter as I grew older.
