Those swirls above the red spot look crazy
I never noticed them before...also..have u seen the hexagon on Saturn's north pole

This is the first time I have seen this in close to 3d. Thanks.

The first time I saw it, I was sure it was a banded agate or something.

@Hathacat I am now looking for a piece of wood that would look like this, will be difficult.

@dalefvictor You would have better luck with a stone!

@Hathacat Actually I found one today, unfortunately it is going into a project, but I at least know there will be more.

Wow, who's the artist? just kiddin.

Actually a lot of images like this are false colour shots, which go through a complex process to give an impression of what the data looks like in the visible spectrum. So there is definitely an artist’s touch involved, it’s not an entirely silly question.

@Denker Yes, the false color is used to better bring out details and study the interactions of the clouds.
