Yup! I got a friend , makes hats she does, her kitchen is full of boxes of bases, feathers of all sizes and colours and a wide assortments of bits for the makings and always seems to not have the correct piece for a particular hat

don't throw it as you know the minute you do comes that eureka moment
i have a fine collection of old metal, egg shells and those nets you get fruit in

My Mum used to use that netting to hang suet for the birds.
