What food has traumatized your taste buds?
GoldenDoll comments on Jan 6, 2018:
I'm not keen on snake.
GoldenDoll replies on Jan 7, 2018:
@Kreig I actually can't remember that clearly, as it was 40 years ago, but I think it was in India, and I remember them piercing the live snake's head with a hook about 2 metres of the ground and first draining the bile (which was reserved for the men - nature's viagra apparently), then the snake was cut up and bits were handed round for us to snack on. I think I remember it being fishy, but it could just as well have been like chicken. I think I was so traumatised that it could have tasted like polystyrene for all I know. Visual memories are fab aren;t they?

Absolutely agree with you and understand your pain. Science will one day find a cure for cancer, as it has done for so many other things, so we live in hope.
GoldenDoll replies on Jan 7, 2018:
@SilverDollarJedi - Upon rethinking this, it's not a cure I'd like science to find, but a prevention. This is brought home for me because I spend every summer in the Italian countryside, where produce is organic and the air is super clean, and yet they have a high instance of cancer. If science could idenitfy the causes, that would be real progress.

No the church of england doesn't run most schools in England, just some. There are plenty of catholic schools too, which people seem to think have better "discipline" and often try to get into even though they're not catholics. There are also plenty of muslim schools in big cities. But thankfully the majority of schools are non-religious. I'm a supply teacher so I see an awful lot of different schools. I stillfind it horrifying that my taxes go to such schools, and that I often have to sit through prayers in the staff room as well as in assemblies!

If a child is suffering from phimosis in infancy, that's a medical condition which may or may not resolve itself by the time the boy is 16. It currently affects 10% of American boys. So I suppose only 10% are circumcised?
