My dog passed away on Friday... wish that ppl around me could undstand that I need comfort. I had her eleven years.
You have my deepest sympathy. I am 71 and have had at least one dog my entire life, I have two best friends right now. We lose these great friends but, at least for me, never forget them. One of my favorite quotations goes something like "may I be the person my dog already thinks I am". Jinx is the one below. He is a cross between a blue heeler and a doberman pincher. He's smart and loves frisbee and soccer. We walk every day. He's just 1 1/2 but when he departs, a long time from now I hope, I'll mourn him too and cry a little.
As someone who's volunteered as a pet adoption coordinator in rescue I understand the bond people develop with our pets. They become family members and best friends. We often spend more time together with our pets than any other member of our family. It hurts and you need to take the time to grieve. I can only offer my best thoughts and encourage you to remember the good times you had with your furry friend.
sorry for your loss, I understand. our pets are so much more than just a "pet"... companion in and for life is more like it. I consider my dogs as family members.... I don't "own" them... I take care of them. hang in there. go ahead and cry it out. maybe someday you can find it in yourself to help out another lost soul and rescue him/her from a shelter.
I'm so sorry you lost your beloved companion. Grieving a pet is a solitary thing. When we lose a friend or family member, there is a community that grieves with you, but your pet is so personal. It has been five years since I lost my poodle and I could still cry over her. Be gentle with yourself.
Oh god, I understand. They are heartbreakers. And all the cliched lines like ‘well she had a long life’ don’t cut any shit. She was your girl! Part of the family. It goes deep I know. You will come out the other side with fond memories but there is still the now to negotiate. Sending thoughts of good wishes. And I hope you find someone in the real world who understands and you can share your grief with.
It's a big thing like losing a family member or a loved one, the loss seems just as great and you just have to absorb it and move forward, you don't get over it. It's been a couple of years now since I lost my mom and my dog a month later and can still barely look at pictures of either of them it breaks me up. I miss them both dearly and feel for you for your loss. Love, hugs and healing. Xoxo.
Sorry that happened. She had a great 11 years with you. You gave her the best home. ❤ Dogs don't deserve us. They're way to awesome and we suck.
I had to put my almost 18 year old cat down just before Christmas. I was inconsolable for 3 days. Didn't shower, eat, only slept. Most people know not to give me their "thoughts and prayers", but I still got a couple. I have to remember that to them, its the same as them thinking they're saying something like, "sorry". What I loved is someone told a memorable moment they had with her, and everyone else started saying wonderful things and memories of her. Made me feel better because she really was so loved. Not just by me, but everyone.
I'm so sorry about your dog passing. I have 9 rescues, a d have lost some along the way. It came to me that everytime I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them, and every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are. A onymous. This has helped me when I lose my friends. Hope it can do the same for you.
So sorry for your loss. I had a dog that a friend had to adopt because I got a job with extensive travel. He lived 17 years and I cried when he passed away. I look to those who support me in how I feel and if there are ones that don't, I limit my contact with them.
There's a saying about dogs that might make you feel better. It's always stuck with me.
"A dog might not be there for your entire world, but to your dog you are the entire world".
If he went with you by his side he went peacefully. I'm so sorry for your loss.
