Is it just me or is the democratic leadership behaving in an insane manner?
Check it, they agree to increase the president's military budget by billions when it was already enormously over funded. They allow him to create a whole new branch of the armed services called the space force. They reauthorize the patriot act allowing government ridiculously invasive spying powers which violate the Constitution. They sign off on these things giving an already overly powerful executive branch even more power while simultaneously impeaching him for abuse of power and obstruction of justice. If the man is abusing his powers so egregiously that you take the extreme step of attempting to remove him from office, wouldn't you do whatever you can to restrict his power rather than handing over more of it to him?
That is, unless impeachment is just a political stunt. A distraction meant to give the perception that they are vigorously resisting him while actually capitulating to his will because they feel more comfortable with a fellow neoliberal, even if he is in the other party, than the progressive wing of their own party who might actually try and put a stop to their corrupt way of doing politics.

I think the Dems also actually approved 2 or 3 increases in the military budget..............to a guy they have accused of being a Russian agent/spy/asset/etc.

The behavior is not that odd if you look at it in the light of the fact that most of the Democrats and Republicans are beholden to the same donors in the military-industrial-pharmaceutical-media-surveillance-entertainment complex.

I’m so with you on every point. To underscore it, in June 2019, after multiple Congressional hearings and news reports of abuse and deaths in immigrant detention centers, House Dems added $4.6 billion to Trump’s ICE, Customs Border Patrol, Health and Human Services (aka Child Extractors), and military budgets under the guise of Humanitarian Aid at the border. With no accountability beyond a boilerplate clause. WHY??? Why expand supremacist agencies and the torture they inflict on asylum seekers? Aren’t Dems the good guys? I’m certain they didn’t do it to gift the private prison industry and others that fund the Dems. No, can’t be.

Their function is to capture whatever enthusiasm and momentum the left can generate and squander it while appearing to be fighting for the people. It's infuriating.
They call it horse trading. The Repubs are willing to give Dems something they wanted for those things the Repubs wanted. It was a compromise.

The dems got? Paid leave for federal workers, that's nice. I'd call it a very one sided compromise. And even if it is a compromise and they got something out of it, how can they justify increasing the power of a president who they are currently accusing of abuse of power? He's dangerous so lets give him a space force and broad spying powers. That's crazy. That's one of those circumstances when you don't compromise.
The democrats took the House and how have they used it to resist this out of control president? They briefly held up his wall money and gave him a bit less than what he wanted. He got it anyway. Their leadership is a joke.
