Sounds like a lot of trouble for what gain? I once had the great idea to shave my pube, for the next week or so I was on fire down there. Sweat bothered the skin, hair growing back rubbed and caused ingrown hairs and tons of pain.

If you're sexually active, you'd be doing yourself and your partner a favor (do I need to say it; pubes between the teeth are no fun for either party).

Not sexually active? Still a good way to keep the package comfy.

Preferred method: good old-fashioned soap and razor (Gillet Mach 3 or Shick Hydro). If anyone has an alternative that will get as good results, please share! But can go a good 3-4 days before things start getting stubbly again.

I saw this come up again in my feed and I forgot the most important advice, particularly if you are using an electric razor: Make sure you do the trimming a few days before anyone's expected to see it. Don't do it the night of that right date.
Because the area in question is round and foldy and in the way of a lot and you just might buzz yourself. Yeah, hurts, but that isn't the worst bit. Give yourself a time window sufficient to heal a slight cut or you'll be answering the "Who stabbed your nuts with a fork" question a lot.

Okay, I have to limit it to a military buzz kind of length. That whole area is pale enough as it is, without a little color I swear I look fucking grey. Plus, a little skritchy texture can be nice, and once it's wet there is no poking problem.
