I'm another non-shy introvert. Many people don't believe me if I say I am a high-level introvert. Typical response is the I very friendly and mix well. I explained that I like people and I like talking to people, but in small doses. noisy groups just exhaust me.
Being shy and being introverted are two different things. I prefer to view the difference between introvert and extrovert as a measure of personal energy received vs. spent. If you receive energy from the social company of others, you tend to be extroverted. If social interaction causes you to feel "spent" after a time and spending time alone allows you to "recharge," you tend to be introverted. This says nothing as to how comfortable you actually feel around other people while engaged in social activity.
That's a good way to put it. I shall make a note of it so I can explain to other people. Thank you.
