When I lived in Durango, CO, in the early 1980s, my ex took the car to his office, so I got around town in a horse cart, pulled by my Arabian horse, "Abram." I even had baby seat for my son..the backpack baby carrier, wedged in next to the seat.
We went to do the laundry, to the grocery store, roller skating rink, and even to the bank, driving through the bank drive-through.
They didn't blink an eye..when I got the tube with my money, I got a lollipop for my son, and a SUGAR CUBE for for my horse, Abram, LOL!
