Hello I wanted to introduce myself to this group. I am a horse (and all animal) lover. We are moving from the Bay Area back to Georgia to buy a horse farm. My kids have been riding here in the Bay Area and they are at the stage where they want their animals at home. We do not yet have our own horses (we are leasing) and we are excited to get going in June once school is over here in California. I know nothing about buying horses, however I did grow up with horses in France and rode almost daily.

Btw, this organization is based in Cummings, He and the women running are awesome people care about the horses and want good home for them. I was very impressed with this org.
I am not too far (from GA.) if you have questions give me a holler. I don't know everything but I can help in a pinch.
What are you currently leasing & what style do they ride? English/western?

Thank you Heidi. I ride English and so does my daughter. My son rides western. We are currently leasing an American Quarter Horse. Not sure what to buy. I am still finalizing the property but I found one I really like on 18 acres with a barn and 8 stalls. I will likely start with 2 horses. I have seen horses for free, others for $2-5k but most not too old ones seem to be $7-10k. Does that sound reasonable? I do not think my 12 and 10 yo care about race. It is going to be for trail riding.
@AlexRam I have done a little of everything... currently own a QH & a mustang. You can see a bunch of my pictures in this group.
Horse prices vary so it is very difficult to say without actually seeing the horse, looking at the papers, etc. Be careful with free but then again, don't trust that if you pay a lot doesn't mean you are getting a perfect animal either. There are a lot of dishonest people out there- unfortunately.
I probably haven't been much help have I?
