I didn't like Duolingo. I used it for Italian.

BTW, I speak fluent Spanish.

¿Lo hablas bien?

@DUCHESSA Creo no.

@brentan I understood you....but is "Creo QUE no." i have an Irish friend who speaks Spanish quite well; her accent is charming.

I've been on and off Duo for years. Currently doing Norwegian. I have done the Spanish tree three times twice from French, once from English. Also German from French. It's a good system for learning syntax and grammar and vocabulary. Worthless for conversation. How well you can train your ear depends on the language. Spanish, for instance, is based on the Columbian dialect with the soft 'g' sound for 'y'.

The best way to learn a language is practicing with a person who is fluent in the targeted one.

I like Duolingo - I am using it to learn Welsh. I think it is a good system for beginners but I don't know what it is like later on.

I don't. I find it to be too limiting.

Posted by JettyI wonder if this works in any other language, though, in Chinese, for example.

Posted by JettyWait! You don't pronounce the L?! 😂

Posted by David_CooperI've often seen these in English, but doubtless the rest of the world does them too.
