Cute perhaps, but these days far too easy to get around with there being black market vendors on the Dark Web that are easily accessed via the TOR Network. Who needs ID and gun stores when such merchants are readily available to do business with?
That aside, I'm sure certain individuals also thought it cute to suggest/enact similar restrictions on abortion procedures, but their "cute" ideas didn't work out in the end as women found ways to get around that (all too often with deadly consequences, but then again the same could be said of virtually all black/underground markets). There's almost always a way(s) for... "ambitious" individuals to get around regulations. Speaking of which, I also wonder how that war on drugs is coming along...
