There are so many videos of cops shooting unarmed people that obviously are not doing anything to make a cop fear for his life, but da's refuse to prosecute. A badge isn't a license to shoot. People that cause harm and death in other professions are held accountable for their actions. Cops need to be held accountable when they make a mistake. Look at doctors and their mal-practice insurance. Every encounter with a cop shouldn't end with an arrest or shooting.

I am in total agreement with the post. There are so many killer cops out there that I can see why people feel like arming themselves with semi-automatics. A cop kills a person and is put on "paid" leave. That is crimina in itselfl too. Where else in the world youcan kill someone and get sent home with pay. The DA will not press charges either. I said in some previous post that cops are uniformed civil servants, not military. That means that they can be sued individually for wrongful death. The military are under the Uniform Code of Military Justice and are not civilians. They are GIs (Government Issue). The problems is that giving cops military grade weapons make them think they are para-military and call us civilians. Cops are civilian too but have an uniform. They do not go to Court Martial, they go to regular courts. It is possible to sue a cop for wrongful death and win the lawsuit. You do not have to sue the entire police dept, just the individual. If a couple of cops get a criminal sentence for murder, it may send a strong message to them to stop killing first and asking question later. Also have to remove the "paid" leave for 2nd degree murder. It is ridiculous

District Attorneys have got to be forced to bring charges against cops that break the law.

Should cops be required to carry liability insurance like doctors do?

It almost looks that way. If you twitch around a cop or have something in your hand you might get shot and if there is more than one cop there you might get shot a lot.

They should if they are going to keep killing us civilians. This cannot continue forever. I am more afraid of the cops than the bad guys. Who can we trust to protect us. I can see why gun owners are so adamant about keeping their weapons.. Not that I am with the NRA, just that I understand how some gun owners feel. I wish we could get rid of the weapons including the police forces that cannot control their own people. I am just mad.
