An early favourite singer was Alex Campbell. Here he sings a Woody Guthrie song of the 1913 massacre caused by copper mine owner's thugs at an xmess dance in
Calamut, Michigan when 73 children were killed:
My great uncle was a baby who was passed over the people jammed together to.leave and tossed or passed to someone out a window, or that is what my grandfather told me. In pictures they look.like identical twins, but my grandfather was born in 1906, so would have been about 7 years older.
People's Long Memory. Proudly keep it alive and pass it on to new generations.
@FrayedBear Yeah. When I first heard it and recognized it as the story my grandfather told me, I got goosebumps and was stunned there was a song about it.
@gigihein And one hell of a history. I think that there may be other songs of the incident.
@FrayedBear that never occurred to me. My grandfather never said it was union related I don't think he knew that, because he was a union steward and would have added it.
