Woody Guthrie was one of my heroes. If he was around today he woulda marched right into the White House and kicked the shit out of trump. His influence on the two greatest American poets of the last sixty years, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen has been well documented . In fact regarding Springsteen — with all his great songs my absolute favorite is “ Land of Hope and Dreams”. —- tell me he wasn’t channeling Woody when he wrote this. And Dylan —- he was a folkie before he was a rocker
