Phil Ochs knew that Liberals stand for the status quo of the social and political systems that maintain their privilege, that their calls for justice went just far enough to assuage their guilt.
I'm not sure alot of the audience of that time got the irony of the song, especially on the "bussing" line! He seems to be talking about most of the Baby Boomers I grew up with. I, for one have not changed my Beetle for a Mercedez Benz!
Agreed. I saw him in concert at Hunter College in NYC. The audience was mostly college students. We cheered until we were hoarse.
